c43 amg loose rotor front

Hello good day. So I recently lowered my car on vogtland sports springs and stcok everything else. Soon after I started hearing this vibration coming from the wheels and it would get progressively faster as I sped up. And at around 60mph I would start feeling a slight wobble through my steering wheel. I removed my front right wheel and noticed that the rotor had a slight play in in. I tried to tighten the rotor retainer bolt as hard as I could but the slight play is still there. What is the solution? New rotor? New bolt? Im stumped im sure that slight play in the rotor is the cause of vibration and wobble. Any help is appeeciated.

This is the bolt, if I loosen it the play gets worse but no matter how hard I tighten it there is still slight play.

The retaining bolt shouldn't cause a vibration in the wheel. Plenty of these cars don't even have the retaining bolt. The rotor should be clamped to the hub securely by the lug bolts, the only where there should be play or vibration with the wheel on would be if for some reason the lugs aren't tightening up as they should. Try putting the wheel back on and see if there is still play. If there is I'd check the wheel bearings next.
As I said, I'm pretty sure I'm missing a couple of the retaining nuts on my rotors and I don't have any vibrations.

^I agree, if the wheel is bolted on correctly, there is NO way the rotor can move, not unless the tabs holding the center part of the two piece rotor are broken. If this is the case, you need to get the rotor changed pronto!

As suggested, a check on the wheel bearing for excessive play is in order.

Keep us posted please.

PS Have you checked to see if there is no dirt between the rear of the rotor and the hub? In this case you need to remove the caliper in order to check behind the rotor...

You guys are right. The retaining bolt had nothing ti do with it. Once the wheel is back on and bolted down the play in the rotor is gone. Im going to test drive it right now and see if the vibration feel and wobble goes away. Maybe it was a case of wheel not bolted tight enough.

Still there is vibration that gets faster as wheel speeds up. And a slight wobble feel after 60mph. Im stumped.

A couple of pointers to check the problem:

1. The rotor is warped
2. The wheel rim is bent
3. The wheel and tyre needs balancing
4. Excessive play in the wheel bearing
5. Suspension bushes worn

If none of these, then I would go for a full dismantle to check the hub and rotor

Is the hub loose or just the brake disc? The original rotors aren't cast solid with the hub. The disc is on pins to transfer less heat to the hub (and bearings). That is why the original replacements are so expensive. If just the disc has slight play it should not cause your vibration.

Just to be clear, this wasn't an issue at all before you changed springs correct?

Thats correct the car drove smooth as butter before the springs. I believe it might be the susepnsion bushings. the wheel and rims are fine because they were fine right before the spring swap. I just swapped the springs but didnt replace any of the hardware, and the alignment needs to be done but I doubt the alignment is causeing the slight wobble feel at 60mph. Im thinking I should change the bushings for the control arms.

What pads did you use with the vogtlands? I think the lack of realignment could cause something like this. I've noticed it with mine, and even the tire pressure can cause a vibration when the alignment is not to spec. I'd get it aligned for the new height and see if it goes away. Minimum you cross an item of the to-do list and eliminate a possible cause before you start spending money on bushings.
