It's a pretty long video, and the middle 7 minutes are just about all freeway cruising, with a few WOT pulls, the car has the secondaries and the resonator removed, and my question is
If I wanted headers, say the TopSpeed shorty headers(old AMS headers), to install them, would it require me to remove the engine? Or can the headers be installed with the engine in the car. Pics for better understanding

that brutal sound just gave me vuuuuuuuuuuuuud
just awesome.
do you hear a lot of the raspy and growling sound inside your car w/o the stereo on?

your car sounds like this

too bad i don't want to remove my secondery cats, i only get half of the sound you have with my resonator delete

I really don't hear much of the rasp that is present in this video until about 4k rpm then you really hear this metallic rasp which sounds awesome. But if I lower my rear seats, and take out the carpeting back there, you definitely hear a lot of that AMG rasp from inside

remove the seat cushion, fold down the rear seats you definately hear that menacing sound from the trunk area.

about headers, they can be swapped with the engine in place, it's tight as a virgin down there.

here's some german made headers.
they are expensive and probably a lot better then Top Speeds from your picture link.
I think germans do better stuff but I can be wrong?

Looks like tuned lengths (very rare), serious stuff and expensive, but I find the welds a bit crude for the price! Do they really fit the c43 as space is a problem under the hood...

if you buy and try to fit them you'll know for sure, it's an expensive trial and error mod

Those headers are a thing of beauty, compared to the cheap looking Top speed headers, but the Top speed ones for me are just more of a viable option based on their price $350

One more question, can our rotors be resurfaced?

Why? If they are at minimum thickness, you have to change them. Expensive however, but there exist cheaper solutions...

I don't believe they are at minimum thickness yet, and I have noticed a bit of steering wobble under 60%+ braking, so I thought resurfacing would fix the problem until new rotors and pads are necessary

Those eBay headers are not equal length. I wonder why they have a different set for the 55, they fit exactly the same either way. Unless the tubes are larger. The collectors don't look any better than kleemann, which I'm not overly impressed with.

To the original poster, no the engine doesn't have to come out. Be careful with those, I've read of guys having issues with them and developing leaks. Does seem worth the trouble especially for a short tube design, basically still just a manifold.

Thanks, I really hate how restricive our stock manifolds are, and how little and how expensive the alternatives are

Remember that this model is starting to date now and tuning companies are not going to invest for low volume sales opportunities. Just my 2 cents.

Definitely, I can now see why everybody just goes for the 5.4 swap instead of modifying the 4.3

be sure to check the pads first. i did a track day and i had wobble at about 50% braking. thought for sure it was warped rotors but turns out the rotors were just fine it was just the pads that were getting too hot and could not expel the dust properly and causing the wobble. long story short... thought i needed new rotors but it was just the pads.
even when i had the brake inspection the shop said pads and rotors were fine, but it all had to do with the heat buildup. this was in the summer as well, so hard driving and hard braking in 85 degree heat was too much for the pads apparently.

wow, if it is only pads that would be a relief, especially being that rotors are a bit more expensive than pads on these cars.

I don't think anyone has done a video of our C43's induction noise. I put the GoPro external mic on the entrance of the airbox after the tubes, and my gosh what a sound.

Later on today I'll post a video of throttle-blip downshifts on my C43.

Sounds great,

is that "throttle-blip" appears with all downshifts...?, and do you use stock airbox...??

Yes, stock aribox with afe dry pro filters, the downshifts I use my foot and time it right with the downshifts, I have found that to be very smooth, but it does take some practice to time it perfectly with the lag on our transmissions

Very nice video! What a lovely sound. Did you couple and intake noise and exhaust or is this only coming from the air intake box? It's pretty cool that you got such a sound just by placing the external mic next to air box after the tubes

Nope, that is pure intake noise from inside the airbox. And they say BMWs have great induction noise. HA!
