nooo, i really wanted to do it but its winter here and too cold for me to be out working on cars lol. the shop i picked did it in 1 day, did a great job per my instructions.

i would say the first drive of the car was like night and day. its really strange to describe. before it felt like a jet was about to take off but never really did, now it just takes off with smooth acceleration very quickly.

does that make any sense?

TQ must feel like having boner 24hrs performing all day long
I'm glad you're happy!

total bill, did it cost ya an arm and a leg swapping toys?
did you do a total count $$$ for parts vs cost for engine swap?

watch out for black ice on the roads if you floor it, or better drive your car on dry sunny days if you have to drive her in winter.
do you have winter tires on your car?

now that you have swapped engines, this mean you can never sell this car being so spezial for you!
buy a ricer and store the AMG in a winter storage.

happy hunting Bemmers!

I'm extremely happy, but in a way I miss the old engine. I feel like the old engine had a special character that you don't find in other cars. With the new engine (2002 clk55) I feel like I am driving a much newer model MB, I'm comparing it to 2014 and 2015 c class models I've had, of course this one is just faster. Guessing the new motor mounts and power steering fluid refresh probably have a bit to do it it as well. I bought the engine off ebay and feel like I over-payed for it, but not much. The installation was a fair price. Parts I bought from MBdirect and autohausaz, so I did get good prices on everything. And even though I spent a lot on parts, I know the engine has a nice refresh, these were the new parts I had installed:
2 valve cover gaskets
1 v-belt
1 intake gasket
1 a/c compressor
1 temperature sensor
1 oil cooler seal kit
2 engine mounts
1 water pump
1 transmission mount
1 oil filter
1 belt tensioner
1 rear seal plate
1 pulley tensioner
1 thermostat
1 real seal
and of course fluids, M1 oil, Zerex G-05 coolant and febi power steering fluid

I doubt I would sell it, I have to go back next week with a truck and pick up the old engine and I still have the 1999 e55 engine, but I have to think about what I want to do for next project (maybe slk or maybe another C43). C43 isn't done yet, there are still things in my mod list that I want to do so I'll be focusing on this until it is done.

you have just upgraded your car to be much better.
every time you make a new cool mod you get a better customized car.

money spent into customizing our cars, well that's up to each one of us if it's worth it or not

didn't you get a new HB to rule out the old one for future issues?

what engine mounts did you get, w210 AMG or w211 AMG?
I love my w211 AMG mounts

HB on the 2002 clk55 was not affected by the recall, so no did not opt to replace. Definitely worth the investment in my opinion.

I ordered the w211 AMG mounts but they did not come wrapped in white

Maybe I ordered the wrong ones? No idea. This is part number from autohausaz:

2 2202402717 Engine Mount

w211 amg mounts have silicone covers for safe protection against heat.

i thought HB was a NA recall on all m113 engines.
it's tight like a virgin replacing this part when the engine is put in.
mekaniks probably lift the car on a hoist replacing HB from down under

Yeah I must have ordered the wrong ones, I'll just replace them in a few years or whatever http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/2202402717

The 2005 HB recall did not affect all m113. I found the recall data sheet and attaching the PDF here for you to see. But you can see HB issue was only from 1998 to 2000 for W208 model with 113. My engine is 2002 W208, 2 years outside of the 2005 recall.

maybe your donor engine had a different partsnumber for HB with an updated part?
this is one expensive part from stealership.

it might be a bad thing buying the wrong HB part then putting it on your engine, HB for C43 engine is probably not made for CLK55/E55 engine

Sorry, I meant I bought the wrong engine mounts, they didnt have the white covering. so weird, was pretty sure i had the right part no.

And I checked the part numbers, the 1999 c43 does not use the same HB as the 2002 clk55. That was not switched over though.

OK thankfully it's not my C43 but my trusty C240T workhorse which developed last week a nasty oil leak in the oil cooler region + valve covers (V6 M112 engine). It spayed oil all over the front of the engine which needed a good wash and then replacement of all the gaskets, poly drive belt and tensioner. The local MB dealer (very friendly and helpful) did the job as I didn't have the time nor tools to it due to my move and everything is packed.
still have the C240T ? I love my 227k mile example , runs on e85 from the factory. I installed shorty headers & a muffler , sounds very unique & fits the car nicely not obnoxious at all . 74mm TB & tune from MSS soon to come 😎
