175K miles, few issues with the power seat. I'm thinking 2500, am I too low?

2500 is definitely too low.
The cheapest C43 I can find aside from yours is 5900.
Don't price it like a used 98 c class. It's a C43.

For a C43 with that many miles in my area kbb gives me a 3K value. Add in the power seat issues as well as the wear and tearing on the front driver seat I don't see how 2500 is super low Originally Posted by Sulaco

KBB is a crock, and is a widely used tool in the aftermarket to get people to let cars go for considerably less than what they are worth.Originally Posted by JustCallMeVlad

KBB will treat your car like it would any other 1999 Mercedes C280.
If you were closer to me I would be pointing 5-6 people in your direction who would be trampling each other to give you $2500 for that car, sight unseen.
I only know this because I briefly listed my car Monday and Tuesday this week for $4500, with more miles and more issues than your car, and had 3 people on local CL offering to buy it as-is and 2-3 through mutual friends offering to buy it as-is, offers ranged from $3k to $4k.
I decided not to sell the car, though.

Not below 4500 as is. This is still an amg limited production car that has a good reputation for being reliable.
I still see predated c280s and c230s going for more then 3k
Im planning to list my 2000 c280 for $4500

Thanks guys. Probably will pass on it if he's not willing to come down. Make it a point not to spend over blue book.
I try and think of it this way. When I goto a dealer they're going to utilize blue book when I'm offering my trade. Why should it be any different when buying as a private party? I paid 3K under blue book for my E55. Dude originally wanted 5K over it.

Haha, this whole time I thought you were trying to sell your own C43. Either way, the logic stands.
Let me tell you something about blue book, though. My father in law works at a HUGE local Ford dealer and it boils down to this. There's NADA and there's KBB. Depending on what they want the outcome to be, they'll decide which value to use. They'll use KBB right off the bat because it serves as something that looks official but they are lowballing you. You can start to walk away, and suddenly they'll switch to NADA which always values higher. That's when they're trying to treat you better.
The inverse is true of the insurance biz. They want your car to total out? Go by NADA. They want to save it? Go by KBB.
KBB is literally useless at valuing used cars that are more than 3 years old. Friend's Altima was valued at 1760 on there but sold at 3200 4 days into the listing. It was a bone stock 5 speed altima.

agreed wtih sulaco, older cars and especially rare cars like the C43 you can forget about KBB. I paid about $1500 OVER KBB for my C43, because it only had 54,000 miles and was a single owner with all service records. KBB gives no value to that but trust me its worth something.
If i had said, no I dont want to pay over KBB then i think i have only seen 1 other C43 come up for sale with low miles like that since then and it was priced over KBB as well.
so yea you can hold out to never pay over KBB and maybe you will find someone that wanted to let the car go bad enough to sell it to you cheap, that would be awesome for you, but i bet someone else like me or others on this website will come along and offer the owner something closer to the asking price and you will never get your C43...
at any given time theres only a handful of C43s for sale in the USA and it will be less and less every year so you cant just always play the waiting game to save $1000.
i dont think ive ever seen a C43 for sale that was in decent shape for less than $4000 in the USA.

its easy to negotiate $3-$4000 on a $16k-18k purchase, but talking about offering $2500 on a $4400 car is a lot different right?
fixing a leather seat is expensive and not having the stock wheels is hurting that car for sure.

My good friend's w124's water pump died, so I volunteered to fix it for him and loaned him my 98 C43 in the mean time.Originally Posted by venturaexit

Black, black leather, headliner has completely failed, AC doesn't work, crap aftermarket radio that barely works, SRS light is on, typical w202 random tail light not working, windshield wiper arm is screwed and barely works, busted xenon headlight
he was BEGGING to give me 4 grand for it after he drove it for 2 days.
