13 sec C43

What mods can I do to get my C43 in the mid to high 13's? I guess its at 14.2 right now (from what I've seen on websites)

Turbo, SC and NOS, are out of the question. Nothing that extreme.

Thanks

Chip, pulleys, lower ratio rear end, remove resonator, race cats, insulate intake, performance air filters, fresh set of plugs, lighter tires/wheels, softer shocks, softer tires, remove spare tire...etc.

I have Powerchips in both the CLK430 and the E55. I love the performance of both. I haven't tested 1/4 mi. but it dropped a tenth to 60 in the E. They claim 17-22HP gain depending on which level you choose. I've heard Evosport has puleys that will gain another 10-15HP.

E55AMG99,

Have you notice any difference after you chipped the cars? A tenth to 60 is probably very difficult to notice for me...

Thanks for the input. I also want to get a little more from my C43...

PS

I second that. I know powerchip is a $1000 chip, I'd would not drop $1k for a 0.1 drop. What would be the best for the money. I chipped my Integra for $100 and it was more than a 0.1 drop.

What performance air filter are you using?? I've heard people having trouble with oiled air filters on their AMGs...

A tenth is probably impossible to tell with butt dyno alone but the midrange improvement is huge. It feels much more responsive and the times got more consistent. Full throttle 2-1 downshifts now produce wild tire spin with ESP off. Never did that before.

But if you want to play, you gotta pay! Integra also costs half as much as your C43 to buy. It's all relative. How much do yo think a chip for a Bently or Ferrari costs?

Yeah i know it cost different for each car, but it shouldnt since its the same chip doing the same thing that the same engineer designsed. They just figure you have 65K for an AMG so we can charge 1K for a chip and 250K for a bently so, ummmm. 4K for a chip :gay:

It is about R&D costs and the abilty to spread them over a larger number of customers. How many Integras were built in any one year? How many C43 cars TOTAL? See the difference?

Thanks E55AMG99

This is good input (the midrange torque). I also think you are right about the R&D costs. They probably make a lot more money with the Integra chips and may do one for the C43 only for marketing reasons. I dont believe this is a big market for them...

Ok I thought so. No do you think there is a difference in the one you have to the one I linked you to besides the price?

mb aftermarket parts have never been cheap...but it's also easier initially to add hp to a turbo/sc'd engine than it is an n/a engine...

let us know what u decide to do!!

on NA cars it is hard to get over a second improvement on 1/4 mile without supercharger or getting into the engine and doing cams, intake, polish/port

I would suggest to reduce your rotational mass as much as possible. Get a brake kit that will save a lot of weight and also go with lightweight wheels.

That is what I plan to do to get faster since I don't plan on modding my engine for another year or so at least.
