the seller replied and turns out the part is incorrect, the part inside the package is 202 267 02 88 which is for gate shift,somebody has swapped the packaging

The PN for a black trim is A2022670788 9040. You are correct in saying its been replaced with the chrome one, 7F24, but maybe you can find some new old stock somewhere.
I think It is hard to compare with stock reclining, if you were comparing buckets than these are easily the most comfortable I have used, longest drive so far was 30 minutes, these was no discomfort at all. I plan to do some longer trips around New Year!
Power slider for backwards/forwards is still functional, the rest of electrics have been removed. I tried to design a way for electric lilt but it was too tricky/time consuming.
Open centre console was available as optional right up until MY00, the one I have is for ~MY98, not sure what changed for 99/00, it looks identical!. I changed this because the storage in the arm rest is hard to use,it gets in the way while changing gear and open console weighs 2kg less..having optional open oddmints tray in front of gear selector as well is much easier space to use for phone and wallet etc!. Highly recommend open centre console (Esprit) model if your 202 enjoys spirited driving
now tht you don't have the tilt function, do you sit comfortble and correct the way you want for safe driving now that you can't use tilt?
i think open centre console was sold on early w202's from 93-94, it doesn't look good to me as i don't like that design, it looks kinda cheap compared with the rest of the interior.

I spent a lot of time setting up the height and angle because the angle of slider is different from w202 to 203/209 , like the original Recaro black series sliders you can have many adjustments you just need to reposition the bolts!.
Changes to seating require certification here,even though this design is proven I have been working with the certifier to make sure all changes are safe and seat belt anchors comply.
CLK 209 is not a fully stressed seat like 202, the seat belt anchor goes on the chassis and receiver on the seat rail, 202 has both on seat which means they have to be very stong!
