engine rattle on cold start

engine rattle on cold start
I get this weird sound(rattle knock) on very cold startups. It goes away as soon as the engine warms up a bit(20-30 seconds after turning the key)
It doeant sound like lifters and it doesnt go away with new oil change. Ive had this for some time now and I want to get to the bottom of it.
Is there a chance its something to do with the timing chain? If so where do I start and what can I do on my own to check/fix the issue?
Again it goes away as soon as the engine revs down after warmup.

if u want to do it your self.. its not that difficult.
take of air-intakebox, remove valve covers, install the allignment brackets/tools (see here:

if they dont fit timing is off and can cause the rattle and less nice running when idle.

stretched timing chain would always rattle at idle no matter what temp. my 99 has a stretched chain, my 98 does not.
