Thanks for the offer, PJmak, but I think Im just gonna use the one from my 43 engine until the kit arrives.
I ordered the HPS Gen 2 kit and decided to sell it as I didn't want to run into any issues. I certainly hope that you ordered a 55 transmission as well! You'll toast your tranny in no time as it is far too much tq for the stock C43 tranny. I'm certain that the two forum members that blew their tranny's in the same week will chime in shortly!Originally Posted by c43w202
So unfortunately the company I ordered the engine from didnt cover tthat with the warranty, and said the warranty only applied to internal parts. I was sad until I found a solution. The solution is a supercharger.

Yeah, currently I'm looking at a 722.636 from a CLK55. Is the e55 transmission also geared the same?

I think thats just the Diff, from what I can find, the actual transmission gears are the same between the 722.631 and the 722.636

I'm trying to decide if its worth replacing the transmission now while I do the swap/sc. My current trans has about 200k on it.

If your transmission has 200k under it's belt, it may be worth doing a rebuilt with beefier parts. That way it would take any abuse easilyOriginally Posted by c43w202

Mine is just 55 swapped with a stock 99 E55 motor, otherwise 100% stock elsewhere.Originally Posted by DRBC43AMG

I could swear I read it on this forum that the only difference between a C43 transmission and the E/S/CLK/ML55 transmission was the material they used on the spline of the output shaft? All the internals were exactly the same?

Thats good, shouldn't be any compatibility issues, then.
I was able to get a .636 transmission for $650 including shipping with 90k mi, so Im gonna install that one.
I already know about the possible linkage issues and will either swap the parts over or just disable the linkage.

Transmission and HPS kit (Without the blower) arrived today. Sourced a blower for it on ebay. Motor is coming out tomorrow.
Engine is in and starting. Unfortunately during the install, I cracked the tube to the brake booster, so I couldn't drive it today. Tomorrow I'm having it towed to a trusted shop for finishing because I leave for school in 3 days and would really like to take this car with me.
Headers are on and appear to fit, springs are on and look sweet. Just waiting on some more parts before I can get around to the HPS kit. I think my long term goals are 500 WHP. Also gonna get a quaife diff at some point.

Those 43 owners in the UK who go for LSD choose Quaife...
185mm factory LSD is good choice, i used it with my previous "C43/55" about (3) years without any issue..

hey zayed is there any technical information on these factory LSD? Did you buy yours new or second hand? Do you have part numbers? I see some other threads about LSD but touching many topics so not very clear.

wavetrac makes some claims on their website that seem to put their product above other LSDs.
they claim that no other LSD, including quaife, has a product that will put power to a wheel when the other wheel is lifted, this can happen under hard turning, acceleration and im guessing on holes and bumps in the ground when street driving. my stock suspension is a little harsh and i think some members here have much stiffer, so a wheel lifting isnt that far fetched...
in addition to that claim, they claim that the unit can take any amount of power... and finally they offer a lifetime guarantee that looks pretty good,
i guess you can see more HERE.
i'd really consider the stock unit if we could get some tech data on it. not new of course because MB isnt giving us a lifetime guarantee on anything.
zayed says in another post that any MB LSD would fit, maybe needs some mods. so idk if all the MB LSDs are the same quality, i think they come in different sizes, would different sizes mean different strength? idk

Mickey,
I took the idea from our fine friends (Money-one)..
,
https://mbworld.org/forums/c36-amg-c...43-almost.html
there're an options of (165mm/185mm) LSD/ASD carriers from "W201/W124/W126/W140",
i put the a complete diff. assembly from "W124 E250D",
just replaced the rear shaft, and the side flanges,,

So the shop I found to do the remaining work decided they didn't want to do it since it is "Non-stock" despite being entirely OEM mercedes with no external differences.
Also, my daily decided to break down too.

i better be careful... the shop that has my engine is being very quiet lol. i think he mentioned he has his brother in law come and do the engine work, so he might be waiting for him to come back.
pretty sure its a one day job once i bring the car over and they start.
Yeah, definitely not the best week ever.
Im going to finish the work on the c43 myself while the dealership handles the 328i. Those things are far too complex for me to work on.

My mechanic almost backed out of my 55 swap. He fixes, not modifies. It's an understandable situation because repair shops don't want to screw around with your project car. They have to get cars in, fixed, and out so they can take on more business
I promised him the engine would work and cause no trouble and agreed to let him off any responsibility if the new engine caused issues or didn't work. 2 days later I picked up my car and he was kinda surprised it worked.

I absolutely get why they wouldn't take it, I'm just sorta annoyed that they told me they would until two days before I was supposed to go back to school. Ended up having to rent a ferd exploder because the BMW parts depot for the east coast royally screwed the pooch and sent no parts shipments to long island for an entire week.

I found the Vogtland springs too stiff and too low in my Euro spec C43, so i put the stock Euro AMG springs back in.
