Estate C43 AMG for sale in Calgary!
Thought you guys would be interested in this.
Just popped up on our version of craigslist, called Kijiji.
This is actually in my city, not to far away.
I think only Europe and Canada got the wagons, and not the U.S?
Anyway here it is.

Or maybe the guy copied the pics or something from another ad or that ad.
I'll contact the seller and get more info. one of the pictures doesn't look like calgary at all, we don't have those type of houses.

The address posted on the map looks legit.(Street view shows the car out in front of the building with a travel box on the roof.
If only I'm in Calgary, I'd seriously consider this.
When you can, go check it out pls. and report back.

You think you can get more pics from the seller and or if possible the VIN? I would not mind driving to Canada to get this ride.........

This car CANNOT be imported to the states until it is 25 years old.
No way around it. I have a friend who looked into it for me. He has worked at the NHTSA for years and handles this for a living. He has found no loop hole or exception that will allow it to be imported.

I just messaged back and forth with the guy. Turns out he owns a german car repair shop called Astra Automotive and I had work done there 3 years ago on a cayenne I used to own.
Him and his wife own the shop and they are in there 50's.
Nice guy so it's legit, I just haven't seen the actual car yet.

nope. Under no circumstances. There were no US spec w202 wagons sold in the states, so theres nothing that can be done. I want a wagon so bad I can't see straight so I did a lot of research directly with the NHTSA and a friend there who wantes very badly to help me find a way. Cannot be done.

Also you can import a vehicle into the u.s from canada. I have a friend that sold a Z06 vette (2003) to a guy in Washington state. There is nothing about it being 25 years old to prevent you from doing it.
here is the website.

So is it because this wagon wasn't made or imported to the states is why it can't be imported?
If it was imported to the states orgionally then it would be no problem?

If there were originally C43 wagons sold in the states, it could be imported but only after you pay a lot of money. There are specific breakdowns of every vehicle ever in their database. I went through all this with that euro spec C43 that popped up here recently for sale. To get it to where it could be imported you would need to PAY the government to modify it to meet US standards.
I'm struggling to remember exactly what all it entailed, but by their requirements you would have to pay a government-certified certification shop to install new steel reinforcements in all the doors. All new headlights, taillights, seatbelts, airbags and sensors, install a new third brake light, and there are a bunch more odds and ends. In the end it would've easily cost 10-20k just to get a euro C43 street legal in the states.
But there was never a w202 wagon or especially a C43 wagon, so it's "too different" to be eligible for any kind of import. Only if it became VERY valuable you would be able to import it under really specific show-car/collector-car rules but then you are subject to new rules about what kind of insurance you can use and how many miles per year you can put on it (it's a very, very small number but I can't remember right now)

The VIN is still attached to it. You could import it as parts. You could buy it and import it whole as a parts car but it would never ever be allowed to be registered and titled until it's 25 years old.
If you are made of money you could just buy it and have it towed here and dump it in your garage until it's 25 years old in which case you can just go register it immediately due to age.

You did your due diligence well.
I am Canadian (and American) and I am actually giving this a lot of thought whether I should buy it or not. If I do, I can store it in my family's farm in Alberta but is it really worth it? My gut feeling is no. In addition, I travel a lot and only go back to North America once a year.

If there were originally w202 wagons but not the C43, then it would still not be able to be imported because the different engine would equal what the government calls a "substantial difference."
