Car moves while in park and wont start

Car moves while in park and wont start
Could this be the infamous worn bushing issue? Car has 158k miles. Car dash lights up when turning key but wont start and the other weird thing is that I can shift the gear lever from PRND with car off which is not normal.

Yep, the ONLY way it can move while in park is if it's not really in park. Linkage broke is most likely culprit. You can get down there and move the lever by hand and see if you can force it all the way toward the nose of the car (I think) to put it in park and see if it will stay still and start.

yeah I am hoping that a what it is! The dash lights up but car won't start. Must be in Neutral or something. I will have to get under there for sure thanks guys

Mine does right now, I do it probably twice a week. I have the issue where the anti seize grease on my starter gear has dried up and sometimes it won't even start. But if I wiggle the shifter around and sometimes put it in neutral and let the car roll a couple feet and then try again it will start, in neutral

I think either the tranny is stuck in drive even though it rolls. Definitely wont start/crank but when you put the key in it and turn all the dash lights come on. My suspicion is the linkage came apart or something then i turned the car off. When i tried to turn it back on ,nothing but just rolls freely. gonna check into it Tuesday afternoon.
