C43/C36 with aftermarket RIMS

Hey everyone... I am looking for rims to put on my 1998 C43 AMG. A friend of mine just bought an E55, and mounted HRE 841R on it. So, I thought of putting his 18''s on my car. I tried mounting them, and my bolts were too long, so they could not hug the rim tightly to the hub.

I assume if I bought shorter lugs, it would work. However, the overall size (height, circumfrence) of this setup was larger than my stock setup... This will make the car slightly higher (boo hoo), and also offset the speedometer. Do you know where I can get the speedo recalibrated? I don't want to buy new tires... Grrr...

Has anyone tried mounting newer AMG rims on their W202 C-Class??? I want to know if this will work... Thanks!

I am assuming you mean a W211 E55, because the W210 E55 wheels fit the C43 with the regular lug bolts.

The reason the new wheels will not fit with the stock lug bolts is... the lug bolts are a different diameter. Since they are a different diameter, you should not use those wheels on your C43.

The rear tires are an OK size, the fronts are too wide (and too tall).

I assume you got the rims to fit already, so the only problem is with the tires. just get some new tires and sold the current one. The correct tire size for the C in 18s should be 225/40 front and 255/35 rear. There's no other solution that i know of.

check the picture thread. some guy name Eurosport has put the 18s style-IV on his C36.

Here's a pic of my 99 C43 AMG. I've installed Brabus springs and 18'' AMG wheels with front tyres 225/45 18 rear 255/45 18. First these wheels where on a 200 C32 AMG. Maybe thats helps

Nice car

btw, you sure you posted the right size of the tires? because those tires 225/45/18 and 255/45/18 would make your overall diameter all out of wack.

Thanks.

You are right those are the wrong dimensions. I got 225/40 R18 in the front and 255/35 18 in the rear.

So the E55 rims I was looking at will not fit...

And those rims on your beautiful C43 were from a 2002 C32, right? Perhaps I will find some 18'' rims that came from that car originally.

Thanks for the help!

Yes that's right and they'll fit for 100%.

If you have some new rims, show us some pics

if you want the style-IV like those on the new E55, you can just get those in the correct fitment for the W203 C-class. They will work the same. Just look at the new C55's rim if you don't know which one i'm talking about.

Style IV is the 5, double spoke rim, correct?

I'm pretty sure that's the stock E55 rim. He bought some HRE 841Rs for it, and these are the old ones, and I'm pretty sure he ordered it WITHOUT other AMG rims.

So E55 rims will fit the C32? And C32 will fit C43? But E55 wont fit C43? That doesn't make sense, so E55 rims must not fit the C32 rim. So you mean I should get E55 STYLE rims for the C32, and mount them on my C43?

DOH! The point of this rim change was to get his for cheap!

How much do these in 18'' normally go for on Ebay with and without tires? Thanks everyone!
