Are you sure the bearing is worn? Do you have horizontal and vertical play in the wheel when jacked off the ground?
Never done a rear wheel bearing, but I imagine you will need a good size puller, appropriate socket and breaker bar. I'll check the WIS to see what they say

I think there are at least five other bushings in the rear that would go out before bearings and could cause vibrations.

-rear diff bushings(has three)
-rear subframe bushings(has four)
-rear control arm and all the links(at least 4)

Have you checked your flex disc/guibo? those will cause vibration also.

For those wanting to do a full suspension rebuild which will stiffen and plant the suspension, check out these guys: http://www.strongflexuk.co.uk/mercedes/c/w202.html
You can also upgrade the rear sub-frame bushes. Don't know if you get extra road noise though...

I'm seriously thinking of doing this in my next winter maintenance. Will have to consider getting a extractor to use the original suspension arms

Im so conflicted with poly bushings. At the end of the day for me both luxury and performance are #1 so I try to stick with rubber when I can just because I don't want to hear the squeaks or have a stupid stiff ride
