Man, I love the tires as they are.

Also, real curious about that w163 just rotting away behind a fence. I keep wanting to find a gen 1 ML on the cheap so I can take it off road.

Part of me likes the muscle stance as is but Id prefer it lower.

Where are you located? My friend is into MLs.

Anymore updates on your car? Awesome work on it either way.

I've recently moved to the bay area and will be shipping my '98 C43 over in the next few months.
It needs some work but it's way easier to work on it in cali than East Coast.

You probably know this already but just in case... Remove the door molding to make sure there's no rust in there. Also remove the door seal, or take out a little and see if there's rust there. Mine has rust on the rear driver side door. Side skirts are also a good idea to remove to check for rust.

Welcome to Cali.

We could potentially meet up sometime. There are a few members around these areas.

There really hasnt been much going on with the car. Needs some little things done and just waiting to build upa budget for a paintjob. I was quoted $9400 recently at a local shop and that is with Glasurit paint.

thanks I will look into that. I’m not sure if I did that back a few years ago when I worked on it. But life and work happened and I had to move so I didn’t get a chance to work on it for awhile.

I will be checking on all those rust spots again.

would be great to meet up after I get the car here! The work you did on your car is inspiring.

after I get the mechanics sorted out I’ll need a paint job as well. So far now it’ll look like a 🐄.

Wish I had more time to work on this car.

I will be doing some maintenance on it in the next few weeks. Plugs, wires, valve cover gaskets, and maf. Valve covers will get hot tanked and i olan on cleaning up the engine bay

Here are a few new pics.

Congratulations on finding a gem buddy. The C43 is one of my favorite too, as it's a facelift model compared to the C36 and one of the last MB with the single arm wiper. The only other car that can top this, for me, would be a 190E 2.5-16v in either black or silver.

Thank you

The mono wiper blade is definitely one of my favorite things about this car.

Tyler Hoover on Hoovies garage has an off road ML 55 he may sell. I think Alex on LegitStreetCars.com has one too that is not getting used much. ML55 is the bomb for off roading in comfort...

What odd timing. I had my C43 for sale 3 weeks ago for the express purposes of buying an ML55 to daily and sometimes take off road. But the ML55's available for sale at the time fell through for one reason or another (bad paint, ruined steering rack, dash-out AC repairs needed). Plus, I love my 55 swapped C43 so, so, so much I just couldn't bare to sell it.

But part of me could be convinced to pick up the right ML55 anyway. You got a link to the one Hoovie is selling? I'm familiar with Alex's but I know he's not selling it. Plus, I would only consider a rust-free car that never lived up north.

Sulaco,
apologies, the most recent ML on Hoovies list is a 63. The ML55 was some time ago. Here’s a link…

Hey @PJmak , this is one of the best posts in MBWorld. Thanks for providing the detailed pictures on your restoration project.

Question...I noticed that your BBS-AMG wheels and tires are slightly larger in the rears than in the front.

Do you have any issues with cruise control not working or the transmission not shifting into 5th gear as a result of this configuration?

The stock C43 has slightly larger circumference wheels/tires in the front compared to the rears.

Hey man long time no see.

Old one was Tboned while my brother was driving. I only owned both cars together briefly.

I bought it back from insurance and sold as is to a friend. He had it repaired and sold. I think its still on the road.

Heres a link to my profile. I believeall the videos I have are on there.
