1996 C36 Lowering advice

Whats up everyone hope things are going okay for everybody with this corona virus going around. Need a little bit of help... I have a 1996 C36 Amg that has clunky rear shocks which need to be replaced soon. This is not my daily driver so i've been holding up on this repair for a bit now. Im looking to replace the rear and front shocks with Bilstein B8 sport shocks. With these shocks i'm looking to try Vogtland springs too, I had H and R super sport on my old 00 C230 kompressor, and have them on my daily 01 e55... always wanted to try out vogtland. Just for comparison my W202 looked like a monster truck parked near this 190e i saw, i know its a sport line but still my 36 looks like a truck next to it! Now to get to the point i heard that the early prefacelift w202 had a different style spring then the later facelift w202s. Anyone have a part number for the earlier Vogtland springs to look for? Vogtland website has them for $330 any other vendors that carry them for cheaper?

Oh dear, the N. American w202's look really bizarre with their SUV attitude. Why was this chosen/adopted for this market?

If I'm not mistaken the Vogtland springs go well and seem to have a nice group of followers on here. Someone will certainly chime in soon

Yeah.... we got the ugly grampy suspension lol!! Most of the folks who buy Mercedes are usually older over here so maybe that Suv attitude really appeals to them haha. Anyway i'd really love a set of vogtlands just don't want to order the wrong ones. Anyone have experience with this?? Where my C36 dudes at

Really? I know the w210 E55 euro spec cars were like an inch lower then ours over here. A lot of dudes bought the euro spec springs and had them installed on U.S spec e55. Retains the ride comfort but gives it a better stance for sure. Wonder if its the same with the C36

I had a set of Lorinser springs and bilstein shocks. Awesome combo.

I wanted to go lower though, so I picked up some FK coilovers. They are fantastic. Highly recommend. I think I paid like $400 for the coilovers and shocks direct from Germany:

Hey Bro, if u didn't decide yet. Ebay--- jom coilovers. I seen em for $280 or lower. Or, do this & buy Stagg Shocks on Ebay---$100 all 4...stiff like bilstein sports, maybe stiffer like kYb, but problem is how long they last?//...for me 2Mo, my fake friend 8mo., but you got a warranty & i would get the ebay warranty too..So, anyways cut a coil & 1/2---free or melt em to 1 coil so you technically have em all---$20 @muffler shop + cheaper if ur trying to save funds. Oh, or keep looking on offer up, ebay, craigslist all counties & states. And you will find eibach, h&r, and maybe wheels too all for $500. I've been going to car shows & modded cars for 25yr, getting ripped off, but never gave up. Now my Birthday just passed. Stopped having car payments, but almost the same with all these old *** cars, my friends tell me. But you know what???...i can work on it at my own pace & they're Rare Right!!!

New Exterior Mods-taillights, roof wing, and carbon fiber wrapped door pillars.Rear wheels to be re-barreled 2" lip,to make em 3"outer lip 5" mid & forgot to caliper. But

4 cars with 2 car garage. Rear driveway will take pic later. Just got this Porsche c4 with custom hard top. Still, no car payment. Old *** Porsche, but a Porsche is a Porsche...
, technically same 18X9 & can use same tires. Front for .5 inch more $800 forget that!...that 5mm spacer is just fine

I Really Like your Lorinser. Almost bought the custom w203 1 @ Rusnak Pasadena, CA. But, was sold in 2003. Wheels do look lower than mine, but same. Wanted to put the 19" Brabus monoblock 5's 2pc & muffler. But, would take away the amg look. But, who knows?...i just got a cordless impact wrench for Birthday.

Dude that’s one awesome 202!! And a super sick fleet of cars I have to say you have great taste in cars. Those Bbs 2 piece wheels are superrrrrr clean and period correct as f@#! Also digging those clear tails looks really good on the brilliant silver! Wouldn’t look good on my black paint. all red tails, euro amber or stock look best on black. Anyway I was thinking of putting one of my w202s on air ride either my 43 or 36. Maybe make a show car out of one

thanks for sharing ! Sick looking c43 you have bro love the stance. The raked look reminds me of my w210 Amg. it’s very different with those modern amg wheels. I like seeing people put wheels other then monoblocks on these to change it up. Don’t get me wrong love monoblocks but it’s nice to see something different

Thanks man...the coilovers should be awesome.I have monos but I wanted to see what this car would look like being lowered and raked a touch with a slight concaved wheel on it. Im very happy.Might get theses wheels powdercoated in a metallic bronze or an ultra metallic liquid silver to pop....Im thinking...

Lowering update on my c36 Amg

Been a while since I posted anything so here’s an update on my C36. I ended up pulling the trigger on a lowering kit from FK that forum member mobilett recommended. Took 2 weeks to ship from Germany and installation wasn’t bad with a few extra hands. Couldn’t be any happier especially for the price of the kit! Car rides awesome now and little
to no body roll! The difference is night and day. Now I’ve been racking up miles on her ever since the drop. Decided to throw on a set of wheels I had laying around. ATS Germany type 10 17x8 all around nice and lightweight.

I have the Vogtland springs and love them. I'd be surprised if there is a difference in springs between pre/post face lift. The spring perches should be the same and the weight didn't really change so the spring rate should be the same as well.
