Still With This Issue

Since I purchased my 98 C43 I been having this issue.
In the dash there’s a yellow light that turns on when a light bulb burns out. Won’t show unless I turn the head lights on.

Every single light in the car outside and inside work perfectly. Even the license plate light. ALL the lights on the car work.

What could be causing this light on dash to turn on? Causes no issues but very annoying. Thanks.

could be a crusty connection somewhere, like in those tail light boards or maybe the headlight connector plugs

Good idea, I’m going to have to unplug every light bulb and check those connections.

That might do it because I don’t know what else it could be. Thanks Sulacos.

Agree could be a crusty connection as you say, and could also be a warped bulb support as those warp over time with the heat coming out of the bulb. That's one reason I installed LED bulbs everywhere. Never had any more issues, nor blown bulbs

Could also be a short somewhere. For example, the casing around the wires inside my headlamps deteriorated with age causing a short and triggering the cluster warning, despite the headlamp still working.

I hope that’s not the problem. But I will check that out too. After doing what you guys are suggesting I want to get those LED’s. My white C43 has them but I bought the car like that.

It's a pain trying to reach the wires inside the headlamp buckets. I sold the car shortly thereafter after my mechanic (dad) said he was tired of working on old cars!

I know how he feels. But I really like these cars so it’s different for me. I enjoy the work, as long as I fix the problems I’m good. But issues like this can start to get to you. Specially since it’s been like this for at least 6 years. But I will find the problem for sure

Got them from a company in France, but you should have a source closer to you I imagine. Make sure to get the good quality ones which don't throw codes after fitting them

Check the wattage of the bulbs or loose connections. Wrong watt bulb can damage circuit
