C 36 Temperature ????

I have a C36 and the temp is in 80C normally, but when I push the gas the temp goes to 105c and then back to 80c when the aux fans kick in.

Mercedes Dealers in my city checked the car and they say it is normal, is that OK?? or do I have to do something to fix it???

please help me!!!!!!!

the fan on the c36 is so loud..ppl think something is wrong with the car. the temp stays pretty hot on 85+F days during city driving...right at 100F on the indicator .. been like that since day 1

probably normal to run a little hot

I have had my C36 for 6 years now and it has always ran a little hot...80-110. I live in Australia where we have recently had 40 degrees celsius days.

Just make sure that the aux fan is working well.Mine just gave up 2 months ago overheated and killed the radiator.

The merc engine is amazing though. Not damaged in any way.Compression / leak down tests were fine.
My Merc mecahnic said it is only the second C36 he has seen overheat.Mine has 180K km on the clock though.

Good luck.Don't worry about it straying to 100 provided it comes back down.

c36 temp

Thanks for your opinion.

I live in Mexico and the temp in my city is 25-30c, so is no to hot, the car has 80k Miles, and the services were made in Mercedes, When i took the car to mercedes to check the temp ¨I think¨ they check te thermosat and the coolant, and also they did the compression test and is ok. The aux fans kick in around 100C. Im not sure about the fan clutch. how can I check it ?
What do you think about all this things????

I have another question...
My car was prepared for Mexico´s gas for the year 95.( 87 octanos) and has 260hp. Now we have 92 octanos gas, so if I put powerchip I think I gain around 40HP is that right?????

Thanks a lot

hmmm....

probably the problem must be on your thermostat...your cooling system is vital to your engine since it prohibits engine overheating... my uncle had E220cdi which he had his new mercedes thermostat...the change of the climate will just bring a little difference..

The best way to check the main engine fan (viscous coupling type) is to start the engine cold, with the bonnet open, and immediately take the engine to about 2500-3000rpm and hold it there. The fan should really roar as it is pushing alot or air and then quieten down as it disengauges after approx 15 seconds.

If you don't get the roar then the viscous coupling isn't working as well as it should.

The other thing is, does the temp seem to move up and down quickly? An example would be if you stop at a set of traffic lights, will the temp go up 10-15C before you move off?

If so then you may have a partial blockage of the radiator which causes the coolant to pass through the remaining tubes too quickly which doesn't let it cool down enough so the aux fans cut-in more often.

replace your thermostat with the W140 S500 thermostat (its 80C vs. 88), also make sure you bleed the coolant system so there are no air bubbles in it, that may be why your temps were spiking so quickly they should not be doing that. hope that helps.
