Accessories and Thanks

Hey there. Just purchased a 96 C36 AMG, and while driving it home, noticed the temp was running up over 100. Thanks to a thread on this board we ended up replacing the clutch fan and fixing the problem.
Secondly, I'm after some interior accessories and upgrades. What would be the best site for this sort of stuff? Preferably AMG accessories.

Thanks

Thumbs up

Hi, I have the same problem as you, but I changed the thermostat, the car now runs better but it still goes up to a 100c, when I drive hard. The aux fans work fine and also the coolant.
After reading a lot , and asking many mechanic engineers, I gave up, but I know that there are other cars (c 36 cars) that run at 90c.
I know my fan clutch works, but in a high temperature (100c), so I like to know what kind of fan clutch did you buy and if you know at what temp does it works?
Another question, at what temp does your car run when you drive hard?
Thanks

Best way to check the clutch is to shut the engine off at operating temp 80-90c and at the same time observe the clutch. If it doesn't stop in less than 1 rotation you have a bad clutch.

The hottest it has gotten since replacing the thermostat and clutch fan, has been around 90. It has been quite hot here lately (35 celsius) so I can accept that it is a bit hotter than usual. I found I had a problem when I stepped out of the car and heard water bubbling near the firewall

What do you mean by FIREWALL? Maybe you have an air bubble in your cooling system.

Can you tell me what kind of fan clutch did you buy? The original MB or another one. And at what temp does the fan clutch runs?

Hope nothing goes wrong with your car!

Turn on your heater and let it run for a while. This will get rid of any trapped air.

I recommend buying the original. The clutch is not very expensive.

BTW, fan clutch should kick in way before 100c, probably around 60c. If yours doesn't kick in by 80c it's definitely faulty.

Another thing to consider is a faulty thermostat. Did you replace it with a original MB 87c?

If your clutch is freewheeling at 70-80C and catching at 90C it is definitely faulty.
