C450 AMG
A better analogy may be, who you'd rather perform a surgery on your loved one, the head surgeon, or several surgical residents?
Even for products that can be completely manufactured through automation and human skills are less relavent, people still place more value in the same product that is hand made in the old fashioned way.
They may not be able to afford the hand made version and have to settle for the cheaper kind, but you can bet they know the value of the hand made.

The PL may be low on participation (in some sub-forums, at least) but it is high on quality. That is what you get when the membership requirements are more stringent (i.e., less volume and less garbage).

Any way, on a completely different but entirely related subject. The C450 is proof that we could of easily had a C63 4Matic but they didn't give it to us.
The C450 is the C63 without the engine and it has the AMG 4matic in the W205 Chassis.

If it doesn't come I will still be in the market for the c63, but I may be swayed towards the B9 RS5 depending on how it turns out.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
You're already predicting shrinking appeal?? All the car mags are stating it's superiority over the f80 m3/4
What are you basing "appeal shrinks" on? I can't figure out if you're just being incendiary or if you really want to have a meaningful discussion ... It's the internet so type on!
or you just haven't done your homework. Now pay attention.
The C450 is designed to rival the S4 and the 335i.
The C63 is in a different league from these three and is designed to brutally combat the M3/4 and RS5.
See the difference.
I'm always happy to debate Peter. I never troll, I just point out perhaps an alternative Pov.
I'd be happy with any MB lol.
I think MB see the c450 is a more practical amG.
It's the AMG awd for those that want it.
The digitaltrends.com review of the c450 is interesting. It basically says unless you're going to race a c63, don't bother get the c450 which you can enjoy all year round.
As everyone has said, the c450 fills a gap. And it's a big big gap.
Many reviews are now rating the c450 as a better car than the c63. Not for outright speed, of course not. But for a car that offers everything with little compromise.

The mindset of most people dead set in an amg will focus their attention on the c63... M3/4... Rs4.... Most of those guys aren't going to care for an underpowered awd c450
The c63 has a cult following... A cult following. There is not much logic that goes into cult phenomena as you are trying to apply it to a decision between c450 and c63.
When the c63S comes out in 4matic... Your logic will fall apart. The e63S is a great all year driver with winter tires
I still don't see, as you have not specifically addressed, how you came to your conclusion about shrinking c63 appeal, you said it now let's hear that point if view
After reading through this thread, I'm not surprised at the arrogance and insecurity people over next to nothing. Though I am a little surprised at the vacuous of intelligence in the example above.
To state if someone chooses any model other then an "AMG" solely on the assumption any given someone cannot afford it, is laughable.
If you need a particular type of car to feel good about yourself, great! Good for you. It would serve you well to have your self esteem checked by a Therapist.

Lastly, yes it's just you, no need to guess.
It's the driver that makes the car, not the car that makes the driver.

Hello Mr. 21 posts NEWBIE. You obviously know nothing about JRCart and the lengthy and heated debate that has been raging on this and other forums, especially directly with MBUSA. Your brief glimpse shows you jumping to massive conclusions about a very long time member and supporter of MB and AMG. Should we all judge you by your superior self edifying character and arrogant posturing? Oh wait, you sound just like JR! I suppose that's all we need to know about you.
His references were pointed mockery at MB marketing and their stated potential buyers. Your post is EXACTLY in the same tone as that you perceived from JR.
You can't call someone arrogant and insecure when you obviously don't know them. And you say it's over "something next to nothing"? Again, you are oblivious to the major direction change MB is taking and its effect on long time AMG enthusiasts. It is huge for many of us in the AMG world. You are entitled to your opinion, but respect others as well. You don't see an issue with this marketing plan and that's cool. But don't, for one second, think that you are right and we are wrong. That's not cool.

in the midwest! having seen a bunch of your posts, you seem like an entitled @#$%#%^. this is why the 99% hate the 1%, people like you! Do you also yell at your cleaning people and landscaper?

Back to the subject of the C450 AMG, just because Mercedes throw AMG on there (which they probably did because Audi put the "S" on their cars and BMW is now starting with MXXX cars that aren't true M's) doesn't mean everyone who buys them are "posers" in fact I would guess most are NOT. What if someone wants AWD, nothing bigger than a C Class, and still likes to have a lot of power and the design of AMG (seats, exterior bits), that makes them a poser? Poser is a person who buys a $10K used Mercedes/BMW/Audi with 200 horsepower, removes all badges and tries to make people think its a M/AMG/RS car, and I have seen plenty of those, even saw a BMW Z3 years ago at a dealership with a M badge on it!
I guarantee you that most C450 AMG buyers have the cash for a "real" C63 but for other reasons choose not to get it.
