Looking forward my first
Really looking forward my Fake AMG Coupe

Just kidding about the topic, but seems everyone is against the C43 Coupe on this forum and all topics are about the C63

The main reason I want to go for the C43 is all wheel drive, but also this is the first time I am driving this powerful machine. I normally drive a 200hp Honda Civic Type R but I love to drive hard and I love the sound from the exhaust, the louder the better. I think that a move to a 450hp+ car (C63) is just too much for me, and I am afraid of my own love of speed. So trying to stay alive here
A C43 all wheel drive will suite me just fine. It is also a big increase from my current car. It will be my everyday driver and I don't plan on visiting a track.

Normally every car/brand has it's own typical issues. Some can be lived with, some can be avoided and some can be fixed. So what about the new coupe here. Has anyone experienced anything bad at all? Any glitches? Any problems with the command system? Anyone had to take advantage of the warranty program?

I need your help with deciding the following options:
* Selenite grey or Selenite Magno? I read that the Magno is extremely difficult to maintenance, while others say that it is the best and easiest thing ever. I live in a Snowy/Rainy environment FYI (hence the 4wd ). I am leaning towards the Magno but can't decide.

* AMG Performance exhaust. I can't find videos where the two sounds are being compared. How much louder is it really?

* How good is the heads up display. Will I regret not having it? I can afford to add it as it's still in my budged.

* I can add an engine-protection-cover. Is it needed?

* I am thinking of skipping the Presafe-plus and Distronic-Plus as I want to drive my car, not have it drive me. Am I doing the right thing skipping these?

* Black or Brown interior? With the Selenite grey/Magno version. I am leaning towards the black but same here, can't decide really. Any inputs?

Appreciate you taking time to read this. Other than above concerns I really look forward to order it.

you know, you wouldn't have caught me dead being an advocate for the distronic plus a few months ago.

But, damn, is it cool. I have to drive from Tampa to Miami regularly (4 hour drive) and when I do it with this active I feel more rested when arriving and starting my work day. It removes about 50% of the burden of driving and maybe even more concentration.

If you have a long commute or drive a fair bit of miles - get it. If not, then don't. It's something that I had to equip my car with (vehicle is compensated through work) and I have been enjoying it. The lane assist is annoying when wanting to drive, however.

I applaud you for having the courage to admit that a C63s may be a bit much for you currently.

I absolutely love the Distronic-Plus. I've had 2 cars now with adaptive cruise control and won't buy another without it. I do drive ~100 highway miles a day though...

I also love the distronic plus and I would not have another car without the HUD. When you are looking out at a bright sky ahead and without the HUD you have to look down and your eyes have to refocus at a different distance and adjust for a darker dash so it takes a split second before it registers and with HUD there is no delay. You always see the RPM/MPH/and Gear.

For the HUD... I'd recommend not getting it if you wear sunglasses often. Can barely see it/not see it at all from some angles when wearing sunglasses. (Unless they updated the HUD since the 2015 models...)

It's the polarization of the sunglasses that makes it hard to see, so I doubt there will be a fix for that.

I have the HUD and really like it, but it's a bummer that it's hard to see when wearing polarized (AKA good/real) sunglasses.

Mistake by the mods in my opinion - C43 shouldn't lumped with the C63 as they are totally different cars and naturally the C63 people are going to stomp on that. Plus the C63 is going to attract your more hard core set, while the C43 is going to be your more casual folk.

The right grouping would've been:

* W205 Sedans incl c43

* W205 coupes, verts incl c43

* AMGs, all body styles (i.e., all 63 variants)

The way it's grouped here is odd, but also wrong.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

As to your questions, i'm no expert but:
* Selenite grey or Selenite Magno? I read that the Magno is extremely difficult to maintenance, while others say that it is the best and easiest thing ever. I live in a Snowy/Rainy environment FYI (hence the 4wd ). I am leaning towards the Magno but can't decide.

- Matte is fine to maintain, you just need to know how - a quick google search will tell you
- Control is snow and rain does not require AWD, rather good snow tires. Nokian Hakkas will have a RWD car passing stuck AWD trucks with all-season tires. No matter what drivetrain you have, run summer tires in the summer and winter tires in the winter. It's senseless to by an expensive car and put shiit all-season tires on it. That's like buying your super-model wife a holiday dress from Wal-mart.

* AMG Performance exhaust. I can't find videos where the two sounds are being compared. How much louder is it really?

- get it

* How good is the heads up display. Will I regret not having it? I can afford to add it as it's still in my budged.

- get it

* I can add an engine-protection-cover. Is it needed?

- don't get it

* I am thinking of skipping the Presafe-plus and Distronic-Plus as I want to drive my car, not have it drive me. Am I doing the right thing skipping these?

- doesn't matter either way

* Black or Brown interior? With the Selenite grey/Magno version. I am leaning towards the black but same here, can't decide really. Any inputs?

- 241+555 Black w/Red Stitching and Red Seatbelts

After driving the CLA45 on the track I very much dislike it and I really dislike the 4 wheel drive. I don't know if having a bigger motor might make it more enjoyable.

I have it and LOVE IT! Its why I bought the car. If you are buying a monster you want it to be a scary loud one. SPORT+ is a blast.

Have it and love it. I have Oakley Turbine glasses NON-Polarized and can see perfect. I rarely if ever look at my console through the steering wheel. I will also do NAV in the HUD.

I regret not getting distronic plus on the C450, so if I was to do it again I would get that option.

Heads up display is meh for me

AMG exhaust is quite a bit louder than the standard. There are opinions floating around that the standard exhaust on the C43 is the same as the sport + exhaust sound on the C450. If you go on youtube there are sound clips of the C43 exhaust and also for the C450. I'd say get it.

I would compare the performance exhaust with the AWE touring system (the AWE system being a bit louder).

They cost about the same (if you are buying, not leasing), so if you regret not getting it you can always have the aftermarket system installed?

I, personally, don't love the way the performance exhaust sounds, definitely has a bit too much fart for my liking.

I went with the C450/43 for the all wheel drive. The Chicago winters are brutal and my C450/43 is my daily grocery getter. In a warmer climate, I'm quite sure I would have probably went with the C63. Needless to say, I am happy with my decision!

You'll love your coupe! Congrats!!

My on-order C43 sedan has distronic and HUD. Did not get the exhaust because it is just a noise maker and takes away some stealthiness IMO.
Got the HUD because I drove a C63 with it and found it very useful. Plus my wife liked it too😍
Agree about the polarization being a problem with HUD clarity. I also seem to remember reading some advice from Stig saying polarized lenses cause some other problem while driving. Anyway non-polarized lenses for my driving sunglasses. Polarized lenses for the beach.

it is a fake AMG but I suppose that's water under the bridge now. Selenite grey is a gorgeous color, my GT-S Edition 1 was Selenite Grey. A few of my AMG's and non-AMG MB's have the presafe and the distronic as well as the auto braking. I have mixed feelings on it. The presafe (beeping alarm only) saved my butt once, I looked down for a split second and the alarm went off so I immediately looked up and mashed the break pedal. I have also had a number of false alarms with the presafe, the alarm will just sound off for no apparent reason, very irritating. Distronic is very cool for road trips on the expressway with the cruise control set, should you come up on a car that is traveling a mile or two per hour less than you my cruise automatically corrects itself to that speed without me having to brake or turn off my cruise, I think it's a must on anything but an all out sports car for the track. The auto braking feature SUCKS! the couple of times it has kicked in and taken over braking on my car both could have been disastrous. The first time it happened I was already braking and had plenty of time to stop. It was a panic braking situation but I didn't want to over brake because I would get rear ended so I was braking while looking in my rear view mirror but the car took over and simply mashed the brakes on and the car behind me nearly rear ended me because if it. The other time it happened was on the race track and it caused me to lose control because it slammed on the brakes at 120 mph as I was drafting another car to overtake it. I thought I had the system turned off but it somehow turned itself back on....very dangerous.

Is the C43 engine hand build by one person in the amg factory? That would be my definition of a true AMG, but either way, C43 is a great car, who cares if people think it's "real" or "fake".

It's not, the engine is the same as the previous 450 models (C and GLE). Which is a mercedes V6 3 liter engine "tuned" by amg.
