How many are buying the C43 for the 4matic?

Having moved a cold weather state and looking for a new DD, the C43 is on my list because of the 4matic package. Anybody else in the same boat? Being a previous "real" AMG owner [yes yes we can all debate on the new AMG nomenclature], I would love it if the C63 came in 4matic, but I think we can all agree that won't happen anytime soon. Current E/CLS63-S models just don't do it for me due to the "old" interior now as the E class was just unveiled.

Really nice would be an S550 or S63 4matic coupe, but I don't want that car payment

Yep, living in northern Alberta, I couldn't justify the expense of a car that I couldn't drive year round. So C43 fits the bill nicely for me as a DD. Still lots of pep and decent sound and still get the AWD.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as Spud. I'm also from Alberta, and our winters can get pretty brutal sometimes. If they offered the c63's with AWD, I would have definitely opted for that instead. I plan to drive it year round, but I've still got the ML for the really bad days.

Definitely getting the GLC43 for its 4matic. I'd love all rear wheel drive, but have had too many winters where I have to reverse up the hill to our house with the children and wife in the boot to put to try and get some grip. And then just leave it there.

The GL class has been great, but we wanted something smaller and ready for the daily school run.

I have a C43 Coupe on order instead of a C63S Coupe, specifically because of the 4MATIC.

Nice choice! I was actually considering the GLC as well, but it didn't make sense since there is already another SUV at home. Had that not been the case, the GLC would have been a great all around vehicle to have.

Looks like a lot of us in the same boat

I bet a bunch of us would also buy a C43 4matic wagon if they ever brought one over here

2015 C63S E1; 2016 C450 AMG
My wife wanted AWD for the rain and very occasional snow. We traded her 2012 C63 sedan for a C450. She loves it. The new interior is much nicer and AWD makes the car much easier to control. The previous gen C63 would routinely swing its tail 90 degrees under anything more than gentle acceleration in a corner even with full stability control engaged. My wife is much more interested in a comfortable daily driver than ultimate performance. As long as the car can accelerate strongly for freeway merging, she is happy.

While the C450 is certainly nice, I would not trade my C63s for it. I'd get snow tires and wheels if necessary. In the alternative, I would wait to see about the new E63s and the new M5 which will both be AWD. However, with the fat, summer optimized tires included on these cars, they won't be much use in snow without winter wheels and tires either.

Yes, AWD is a luxury I don't care to live without. In Syracuse, NY, we don't have really have dry roads between October and April. Yes, you can drive overpowered, RWD cars in winter with good snow tires. But I'd rather have accessible power, year-round. I was going to get an Audi S6 until I test drove a C450.

My C43 sedan is on order

A Benz and a BMW
I'm North of the border as well like some of the members on here. AWD is the first box I have to check when buying a car because of the heavy snow we get in Waterloo / Toronto. RWD would be great to have but it's not practical for me as a daily driver.

4matic for me is also a fairly key consideration due to climate up here in the Great White North.

2018 GLC63
I was in the same boat. Give me a C63 4MATIC and I'll be good to go. I initially considered the CLA45, but determined that the cabin felt really cramped and the material quality was below that of the normal Mercedes that I was use to. Ultimately a Mercedes master mechanic with tons of CLA45 experience talked me out of it. I considered the W212 E63 but felt that it was in dire need of a face lift. That pretty much left me with the C450.

To me, driving a performance AWD vehicle on a winding-hilly road, is just about the most fun you can have. And I pretty much make sure that I do it every day.

The options now (or soon) have gotten better. The new GLC63 is going to be AWD, and it should fall into the C63 price range, and the new W213 E63 definitely looks tempting. I love the new interior, and pre-tuned 600hp is nuts. ...The Paris Motor Show is two weeks away.

2016 C450 AMG
4MATIC PURCHASE

I live in Calgary Alberta and the snowstorms and bad weather can last for months and months.

I prefer to have AWD as a daily driver. I have a Jeep Wrangler for the winter but when I get tired of driving it I can switch to the C450 AMG.

I have owned this 2016 C450 AMG sedan for less than a month (ex BMW owner and enthusiast ) and I must say Benz did a great job on this car.

The interior is top notch and the driving dynamics are great. Can't wait for a RENNtech tune and an AWE exhaust.

After these mods, I am done....hopefully

I bought my C450 for the exact same reason. It's my daily driver and I require the 4-Matic to get around in the Chicago winter. The 20" Vossen's will be coming off quite soon.
