Sport seats compared to stock - opinions/impressions

I test drove and tried the sport seats, regular leather seats on the C43 and on the C43 coupe. Here are some observations:
- sport seats on C43 don't go as low as the regular seats - it seems sport seats lowest position is higher than the lowest on regular seats
- side supports on performance seats is not much better than regular seats
- stock seats have the same suede surface as performance seats
- seats on C43 coupe go even lower than the seats on C43 (compared to dashboard eye level)

I didn't see a reason to go for the performance seats:
- swede surface on stock seats
- side support - almost the same, maybe 1/8 inches farther apart on the stock seats
- performance seats look better - not enough to justify the purchase
- stock seats go to a lower position (half inch to 1 inch lower - my impression/perception?)

Anyways, just wanted to know if you have/had the same impression/feeling about performance seats compared to stock.

Thanks,
Gabe

We are currently considering a C43 and we have driven cars with both seats. I prefer the stock seats. There are other cars where the sport seats make a far bigger difference in feel and reducing weight in a car (like Porsche's CF Sport buckets). I found the stock seats more comfortable and they had more adjustments. In addition, maybe I'm sort of old fashioned but I like a leather interior including leather seats.

I know there are people who love alcantara, but to me its just a fancy name for fake suede. If we go with a C43, we will be using the cost of sport seats to fund other options. Cheers!

(edit) I did see the performance seats are available in leather, but I just don't like them enough to choose them.

Good. Glad I'm not the only one who does not feel a significant difference, and from your car lineup I assume you know better than me what a sport seat means

I have a 63 S with sports seats and my friend has a 450. I have spent extensive time in his car, this is what I have found. Initially the bolstering seems great in the standard seatuntil you whip in to a corner. If your impressions of bolstering are based off just siting in than your analysis off. I also found that the sports seats are provide more rear legroom as they are both thinner and lighter.

I find the sport seats to be to tight at the midsection and I'm not "wide" at all.

They do look cool though.

I have driven C43 with sport seats and stock seats. Still not impressed with their sport seats, and I wouldn't want them in a daily driver. Yes, they are lighter than the stock seats, but the C63S is quite heavy. Its not like the seats turn it into a lightweight nimble sports car like a Lotus Elise or a Porsche Cayman GT4. Thankfully, they offer standard seats and sport seats to please customers with different preferences.

The non sport come optionally with the ventilation... For those of us in hot climates, we have no choice.....

Well, that's your opinion let's all get AMG's for the sport seats... that's funny why don't I get a sport seat and put it into a corola

On a more serious note: it seems opinions vary. The seats are definitely lighter and allow more room in the back, but one of the most important feature - the side supports - doesn't come even close to the seats I have in my bimmer. I would just have expected more of an "embracing" sensation from these seats, it's just not there.

I chose standard seats on my C63S over the performance seats. For a daily driver and car that will go on short road trips, no brainer. They are very comfortable.

imo, the performance seats are just as comfortable had them for nearly a year, they're running good for short drives and during longer journeys

Can we get the naming correct for people that are new to the C-Class AMGs...

AMG Sport seats are the standard C43/C63 seats.

AMG Performance seats are the optional C43/C63 seats. (The ones that look cool).

Can anyone confirm that the performance seats in the US have perforated leather? It seems odd we would get perforated leather, but ventilation is not an option.

With most manufacturers when you choose performance style seats you don't get ventilated seats as an option. The idea is to keep the seats thinner and lighter than the stock seats.

Have a C63S coupe on order for a February build; in regards to the seating options, do the Performance seats have electronic adjustable bolsters on either the upper side bolsters or the bottom seat bolsters? I am 6'1" 190 pounds, but got a wider then average upper back and shoulders... love the look and idea of the Performance seats, but do not want to feel as if I am getting constantly getting squeezed. Also, in terms of softness and overall comfort, just how much more comfortable/softer are the sport seats over performance?

Basically, to sum it up, I am wanting the performance seats mainly for aesthetics reasons ... the cost doesn't bother me. I wont be tracking the car, its going to be a Spring/Summer daily driver..... my main concern is the comfort of the performance seats. From what I am taking from most of the above posts/replies, is that the Performance seat is not much different in comfort etc then the Sport seats ( so those looking for actual performance find them to be of poor value )

yes for the drivers seat you have both bolster adjustments, however for the passenger you only have the bottom seat bolsters (if I'm not mistaken, rarely sat there ) as for the latter, I'm not sure, but the performance seats aren't bad overall. they're fine, I've been using them for a year, driving for long journeys as well, and I fine them to be just as good

There is probably a pretty good chance that we will eventually see a vented performance seat option on the AMG C-Class. The new W213 E63 will be offering performance seats for the first time in it's history and they will have both a heating and ventilation option. And the MY17 GT S has recently added venting to the seat options (and the GT-series only comes with performance seats).
