TPMS on winters?
#2
I debated and finally added them because if you lose pressure you really want to know asap since driving too long on run flats means new tire replacement so if you can find out early enough you can stop and not cause more damage then needed. If no run flats then not required since you will know right away if you have a flat!!! Then again TPMS add-on is a small price to pay at this point considering your investment...

Is it easy just to transfer your TPMS sensor from your OEM wheel to new alloys & tyres? Do you envisage any issues? Stupid question, but mine is stuck on really well to my alloys, how do I take it off - hair dryer? That won't damage any of the internals will it?

For $300 I would not remove and re-install all the time plus you would have to un-mount the tires all the time so bad. OP eighter wants new one for winter rims or none, transfering TPMS only moves the problem from one set of rims to the other since he needs both sets smmer and winter.

PR2000, you are correct. New winter set wanted to know what others are doing. If I go without is it just a light on the dash or will the system makes any noise also.

I have a separate set of wheels for my winter tires. No TPMS in them. I carry a pressure gauge and check them often. No point in wasting money on a set that sits nearly 3/4 of the year inside bags in the garage. Moreover, people have gone without TPMS for over a century.

Check tires regularly, I don't bother with TPMS on winters. You will get a light but strangely, it never bothered me with the C63s because I know why it's on.
