Only if you live in an English speaking country. Saves them on having a number of SKUs. One button would do all. The functions are explained in the Operator's Manual.

they all have key start the button is just a piece of plastic that you put in the key hole and it acts as push button start they give you the push button when you buy it at the dealer

You know of course how to convert a Keyless-Go to a key start eh?
Just take out the button and throw it away. Done.

For example, I don't recall why but I was fiddling with my car while driving and managed to pull the button out with the engine running driving down the road and dropped it. It fell under my seat.
So when I stopped I put the key in and it would not shut off with the key. I found the button and reinserted it and pushed and the engine shut off. There are rolling codes involved here so I am no sure seeing as just a button is correct.
Alway willing to read data to understand better if you have it.

There is no magic in that mate. All he has done has ordered cars without Keyless-Go. As far as I know in most MB cars it is an option. Only some cars have it as standard.

damnhotrod, are you sure the feature isn't there vs the dealer removing the buttons for some reason?

KEYLESS-START and KEYLESS-GO are listed as standard features on MB USA (https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehic...-C/model-C43W4) as well as in the C43 part of the dealer ordering guide, so it is rather strange that a US dealer would delete standard features.

Does that mean you can start the car with keyless start but you cannot lock and unlock it by touching the pad on the handle, putting your hand in the handle loop etc. ?

Based on what MDSkiBum just posted I am wondering of this is a differentiation between Keyless Start and Keyless GO equipped cars. I have been around these cars for 28 yr and had keyless go 5 of my 11 cars but never came across keyless start before.

Yeah it's odd that they are separate, but from what I can tell looking at the marketing descriptions, KEYLESS-START is just the feature that lets you start the car without having to put the key in the ignition. That feature is standard on the C300 (as well as the rest of the C Class). KEYLESS-GO adds the ability to lock/unlock by touching the door handle. That feature is standard on the C43 (and C63/63S), but requires you get at least Premium 1 package on the C300. I have no idea if this separation of features is limited to the US market or not, although I searched for KEYLESS-START on the German MB site and didn't find anything.

Keyless Start still leaves all the locking functions in the fob but allows the car to be started by pushing the Engine start/stop button.
Keyless Go of course provides locking and unlocking by a touch of the pad or hand in the handle loop and trunk by simple pull up of the handle.
He said he cannot confirm the Engine Start/Stop is isolated to Keyless Start but suggested that it is possible.

I will check my build month and report back however I do remember something when I purchased the car. Actually the button doesn't come with the car when it was unloaded by the truck. I now recall after taking delivery of the vehicle, the sales person came out to give me the button as if he got a bunch of them in the office. So perhaps its whatever they have at the time is what they'll give out?
