Head light swap - C43

So riddle me this...

has anyone tried or considered what it would take to swap the headlights that come with the P2 package on the C43 (possibly the C450 as well) with the headlights from the P3 package.

yea I know... why not just get the P3 package but for me I did not want any more driving nannys with me. You have to admit that the adaptive headlight looks way cooler.

So has anyone tried it? done it? is it possible? I have seen a bunch of the lights on Flee Bay... just wondering.

Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking there is some kind of computer controller for the headlights. Whenever they come on, they move around and calibrate. Not sure about wiring harness and it doesn't appear there are any specialty buttons in the car for the adaptive.

May want to inquire with a dealer to know for sure though

I'm switching to Euro Headlights without the ugly amber side markers. I suggest doing the same if you're getting new headlights. They look SO much better

you can spec halogens on the 43, which is arguably not an AMG car.

I can't believe that halogens are even an option on MB's. I figured everything would be LED or Xenon.

On the C43 the only way to get the adaptives is to get P4. I personally went with P3 which is full LED non adaptive and I am pretty happy with the exception of being aimed way to low (need to get into the dealer to have them adjusted). P2 and above come with full LED.

I haven't looked into the adaptive LED retrofit but I did (briefly) look into adding the surround view camera which i regret not spending the money for and the cost/difficulty is ridiculous.

It seems like on these cars if the retrofit is anything electrical the cost skyrockets quickly.

Someone else mentioned their headlights on the C43 were aimed way too low and I believe that is a simple 2min adjustment from the headlight unit under the hood....hopefully that person can re-confirm that on this thread...

Helpful info though, i too went with the P3 package. thanks

Whats the difference in lighting output between P2 and P3 if its the same?

Re-reading this thread I think the OP has a coupe. P3 coupe = P4 sedan.

On the Sedan P1 is standard and comes with halogens, P2 and P3 come with regular LED's, and P4 comes with adaptive.

On the coupe P1 is standard but the equivelant on the sedan is P2 which means that P1 and P2 on the coupe are normal LED's. P3 on the coupe comes with the adaptive LED's.

The way MB did this is really confusing, should have just made P2 standard on the coupe and not moved everything around.

Yeah , I'm planning on getting a coupe too. I don't need the adaptive headlight so I guess I can just get a P1 for LED hedlight?

Don't get Halogen whatever you do. I have Halogens on my current Land Rover because my dumbass didn't even think to check... I just assumed Xenons or LED would be standard. I'm spoiled by adaptive S since my 07 S4 had them.

I dont really care if they dont turn they just need to light up. From what I read seems almost impossible may opt like suggested for Euros.

Hey bud

I wanted to update you. So after I switched to the euro headlights, I sold my old ILS headlights to my friend. He has a 2016 W205 with the normal P2 headlights (no adaptive LED). Although there was just one connector for both, the swap didn't work. Our shop wasn't able to get them to turn on after coding them.

I originally had the exact same thoughts as you regarding my 43 order. I really wanted the adaptive headlights but didn't want any of the nannies. I ordered my sedan with the P3 package, but the more I looked at 43's/63's with the adaptive lights the more I loved the look of them. I ended up switching my order to the P4 package before it got locked.

At the end of the day the nannies can all be switched off (you don't have to switch them off every time you turn the car on, you can just turn them off for good). Just depends how bad you want the lights really. Here are some pics I took from my local dealer to compare them, I think the difference is more noticeable in person and from a side angle (looking straight on it isn't as noticeable). One thing particularly noticeable in person is how much larger the amber turn signal section is on the P3 lights, it's much smaller on the adaptive lights.

Obsidian black C43 with P4 package: Seeing this 43 on the lot is what convinced me to switch since I'm getting an obsidian C43 sedan with the night package and split spoke wheels, exactly like this one.

Normal black C43 with P3 package (pictures are of two different ones but both are the regular black with the P3 package):

Makes it look like a completely different car!! I was glad to have been able to order it ala carte in my build before the C450 was released
