Anyone running a boost gauge?

Wanting to run a boost gauge as I feel they are imperative to a car with FI to keep an eye on things and make sure that everything is in order. Especially if you are running any type of aftermarket software. And I DO NOT think the stock "boost gauge" is at all sufficient in this regard.

I know what one I want, and I can figure out how to install it, I just don't know where to mount it as I haven't seen ANY companies offering an option for the w205. I've seen the option (pictured below) the CLA guys have for placing it in one of the air vents; I think this is ideal as the circular vents are just begging for a gauge.

Do you guys have any thoughts? Anyone fab'd up something of their own? Do you think the CLA one would fit in our vents (anyone with a CLA want to measure their one of their vents for us?)?

I really prefer an analog gauge, but another option I'm contemplating is to run a small digital gauge (the kind that is about the size/shape of a USB jump drive) and just velcro'ing it somewhere ideal on the dash.

I dunno... What are your guys' thoughts?

Doubt there are many, as the AMG boost gauge is viewable on the dash and multimedia screen.

Not really a sufficient gauge if you ask me.

That is more of a "looks cool" type of boost gauge

There aren't any for the w205 because people don't use them. If you must have one, get a small digital one. Something like the P3 gauge.

It's not the gauge I'm after. Gauges are universal. It's the mount.

A-pillar is out as it has an airbag. Plus it's way too "ricer" IMO. I like the steering column mounted ones; had those on my Audis and that ais the most useful location. But these circular HVAC vents are perfect for gauges.

I have a guy measuring his CLA mounts later tonight so we'll see how that goes.

The P3 is a nice gauge and can be added to various place. It can also be removed easily without causing damage. At this point, with no aftermarket for this, you will be hard pressed to find a solution that won't damage the vehicle. The vents are nice. Do you like the digital clock? You can pull that and put a gauge there. But it would be a little out of view.

Hmm, I could be down for something like this.

I don't see any universal gauge on their site and the only thing they have for MB is for the A class and its 500 effing bucks?

My mistake. I thought they had a universal one.

No worries, appreciate the input.

There's a bunch of digital types like the P3 I've been looking into.

I prefer analog gauges and really like the OEM+ look so a vent gauge is win win in that respect.

But having a sleek digital gauge I can mount and hide easily is starting to look like a better/easier option at this point.... Plus I can hide it for when my car goes into service and the boys are curious as to why the car is running so much boost haha

It looks to me like the CLA boost gauge is smaller diameter than the c43 vent. If you want to fabricate something I would buy the CLA gauge and created a spacer to fill the void between the edge of the vent and the gauge. Options might be MDF plastic, fiberglass, etc. You basically just need to take a large hole and make it smaller.

I would still like the idea of replacing the analog clock with a gauge. Curious what the size of the clock is.

Think you can get custom ones from Speedhut, including vent mount. Should just ping them.

I’m also interested in this route, if anyone has since tried it out

When I had a 5th gen Camaro, there were round vent adapters for standard sized gauges... so either modifying one of those or something for an Audi TT which has round vents would work. The boost gauge setup I had in my Camaro even still allowed the vent to work with the gauge centered in the mount. I'm sure there are plenty of pics on the web if you search vent-mount gauge adapters.

would rather replace the 4th clock on my dashboard than to take up an available air vent
