My car is black but seems to have obsidian metallic black door handles (below the chrome section). I assume this is not a "feature."
Has anybody else seen a similar issue? Really sloppy assembly by MB. Have to say that so far it seems like this car was put together by a team of chimps, even compared to my Golf R that was half the price.
Pics? I realize it may be hard to show in a photo, but I'm curious. That's a real shame.
I will see if I can get something, but it's probably not going to show up in a photo.
This is all obnoxious as the C43 is a really, really great car. And most of these initial issues should be fixable by the dealership. But the factory needs to get its act together.
Surely it has to be a feature. MB could not possibly make a mistake like that.

I have a black 2015 E63S that I bought new this past October. One of the first things I noticed was the door handles were Obsidian black. I, as I always do, feared the worst. When I brought my car in for the rear differential fluid change at 1,500 miles I asked about it and they had no idea what to tell me. So, I took it upon myself to check the other black cars that came in for service and in the showroom. Every black car there had the obsidian black handles except for one, an AMG GT. After that I realized MB does this for a reason and the SA agreed saying "Mercedes does a lot of weird ***** like that".
I would think since the handles gets touched so often and metallic paint hides scratches better than the regular black is why they do it.
My next car will be obsidian black if available. I didn't really have a choice as I got a good deal on a NOS car that I couldn't pass up.
So don't worry, and if it makes you feel better check out other black MBs - most will have the same obsidian black handles.

Dan, that's really useful information. Thanks. Still seems amazingly half-arsed to me. Like the wonky gas filler that had Mercedes issue a bulletin basically saying "oh, it's not our fault. the gas stations just use the wrong handle."
I feel like I may have given a lot of black car owners some OCD with this thread though.
