Question Interest in a Group Buy for Winter Tires? - GTA

Hey guys,

First off, let me start by saying that i'm unsure if I need approval from moderators to even do this. Happy to chat with a mod if needed. Secondly, I don't benefit or receive any incentives in organizing this group buy.

Now, i'm in the market for winter tires myself (2017 C43 Sedan). I've inquired at my tire shop to set this up, who I've dealt with for over 10 years and often beat other shops like Simply Tire in both price and service.

I'd like to see if there's interest from any of you that are located within the GTA. The shop is called "Tire & Rim shop" and is located at 1570 Midland Ave #2, Scarborough, ON M1P 3C3. You can find a ton of great reviews on Google.

Post a message within this thread advising if you're interested.

Thanks

I have purchased winter tire/wheels from Tire Mag in Concord, Ont in the past.
Found them to be excellent.
Keel Street just north of HWY 7 Toronto.

We have a C43 Whatsapp Owners Group and we did a 10 person group buy with simply tires. If there are more people interested here, I think I can add you guys in as well.

18s or 19s

I’m in northern Nevada so I guess the shipping would put me out of this group buy.
I am curious if you guys are throwing 19” winter tires on your rims or switching to a 18” setup for the winter??
im curious if the traction would be way better on the 18” setup or if it makes no difference.
If your group buy is free shipping I’ll go in on it. I’ll need to buy a set of winter rubber this month or next

Curious to know what price Simply is offering. Can you share Munis?

Just put 18" Michi X-ice on some cheapies, all squared set up. Price of 19" winters (could only find Pirelli $$) and having to take them on and off ($ and risk damage) and the risk of damaging my stock wheels in the winter, made my decision easy.

Automotive Import Market in Markham is pretty good for those in the GTA.

Hey im thinking of doing the same thing for my coupe. Will 225/45R18 on both front and rear work fine for the coupe?

My guess is yes, it will work but probably best to check with a shop.

I have always been told that the thinner the tire the better. And to keep them all the same size, front and rear...
This year I went with Blizzard LM32 in the exact sizes as our stock summer tires. I almost always use these tires on my Mercedes for the last 10 years.
So we’ll see what happens.

The thinner snow tire concept is for when you're driving on fresh snow and are able to "cut" down to the pavement. But when you are driving on hard packed snow/ice, it's best to have a wider tire as it's the same concept with summer tires, the more tire equals more grip. Either way you'll be fine. I've got Blizzaks on my car and the only trouble I had with my car last winter was trying to play around in it as I was literally getting too much traction haha! I was a bit worried as I've been used to Subaru and Audi (the best 2 in the biz) AWD systems but MB has really stepped their 4MATIC systems up the past couple of years. It was just as capable as anything else.

Yes you can run 225/45/18 tires on all four corners. That's i'm running and a lot of other people.
