Easy answer...Mercedes took a long time to get the C class up to speed with likes of BMW and Audi. I mean the S4 and 335i had turbos and superchargers for quite some time so the tuners had plenty of time to perfect stuff and bring out good products. We finally got a C Class with a monster engine outside of AMG V8s and now the tuner world has taken notice. That being said, the tuning world for us is still small comparison to the BMW and Audi world. I am just happy we now have more options and we can crack the 400hp threshold. Hopefully, with more individuals tuning their bi-turbo 3.0 in the CLS, C, GLC, and SLC, tuners like BMS and Racechip could provide more custom tuning with their products.

Good answer and that makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully these tuner companies will get going on this.

18bora - how did you get registered over on the N54 forums? Registration page is asking for an anti-spam code, but no more instructions on how to obtain it. TIA

When I was stock, I trapped 107mph. With bms jb1 base map (91 octane map), I trapped 111mph with 93 in tank. Based on my "bench dyno" that's about 65hp over stock. With 91 in tank, I would say at least 45hp over stock

By tuning you mean tweaking boost!! Because both BMS and Racechip do the same exact thing, nothing spacial. While BMS is cheaper and allows you to control your own boost via map6, Racechip doesn't.

Both connect to the same 3 sensors and none of which has anything to do with fueling, the only thing they can control is boost and timing?. Again, they are both the same, and tweaking boost is the only thing Racechip will do when they claim "custom tuning", while you can do it on your own with BMS.

BMS map1 (91 octane) is set to 3psi peak over stock, below are map2 preset settings, which is for 93+ octane. As you can see, peak/max request boost is 5psi. I highly doubt that Racechip is running any higher.

Now, if you want to "custom tune" you own map/boost with BMS using map6, the boost curves above give you a good idea how to ramp up/down boost. It doesn't mean to blindly increase boost, you might have to decrease it a little in some spots for better/smoother shifting. Should you? it up to you, but that map (map2) is pretty aggressive

I don't remember having any problems, maybe you have to type in a semi scrambled code that they provide. Are you trying this on your phone?

Thanks 18bora. That makes sense so that means that neither the GTS Black or JB1 could be altered for the downpipes. More Air Flow from the Catless downpipes and not being able to adjust the tune to get maximum power is a no go for me. Seems like I am stuck with having to purchase an ECU tune in order to get maximum performance with downpipes unless there's like a JB4 product for the 43 engines. My custom Map6 JB1 is sufficient for now I guess.

Tested Dragy today with my daily map and a full tank of 93 gas. I managed a few runs, all of which were in the low 12's (12.09-12.05-12.04) and trap speeds of 114-115mph. Other than the JB1, the car is still stock (stock DP and filters)

Compared to the track, it seems easier to duplicate runs. Possibly, less distractions, no tree to watch, waiting for the next lane to lineup, etc...
While it's a great way for people to measure their car's performance, @ traps of over 100mph, you run out of road really fast (at least roads around me)

Nice! Glad you got a dragy too, and you are 100% right about track and street times. Runs a lot better in streets than at track

Correct, same setup on a well prepped track with a 1.77-60' was 12.3@114mph (time slips below), I assume my map6 would be faster. However, you can't/shouldn't assume.

My map 6 is less aggressive than 2 (always humid and hot in Miami) best I got at track was 12.21. Then again only ran twice (worse track day ever). And dragy was impressively accurate. Secluded streets by a nearby airport car does a lot better than at track. Did a 12.22 on ragy hitting brakes after I was at 104.

Definitely, imma go to Bradenton Raceway April 28, Cletus gonna be out there. Should be fun. You’re a lot closer to Bradenton than I am. You should go. We take our wives, that way they will be able to tolerate our racing for a few hours lol

I Just had some free time to look at the logs from the 11.9 run. I didn't realize how much boost and timing the ECU was throwing at it.
I can only imagine the potential with a fully operational JB4 that includes fueling, boost-by-gear, waste-gate adaption, etc.... @Terry

Not sure how to interpret this - is your peak boost around 15 or 15 above stock boost? What was your peak?

Highlighted in the box are peak values, 12.7psi and 12.7 timing-advance @ 4926rpm. This is what the ECU is actually requesting, not including the addition of jb1 boost, timing should remain the same.

Stock ECU, Downpipe, air filters, run-flat tires, etc.... JB1 only.

So how much is the peak boost including what JB1 is requesting?

A quick 0-60 this morning on the way to work with dragy.
Daily Map2, 93 octane, 2k rpm and stock run-flats. That's a full second over stock!

Update:

This morning I pulled the jb1 out and went for my first service @ 9,710 miles. While there, they performed the transmission and fuel delivery software updates, according to the Service Advisor there was a recall for both updates. According to him, the car had no engine or transmission codes.

After all said and done, I pull out of the dealership into the highway and my first impression was..... hmmm... it feels faster than this morning, almost as fast as map1 did the dealer install the jb1 back..... but I left it in my garage...

So I decided to pull out Mr. Dragy out of the bottom of my glove compartment for the heck of it.

According to Mr. Dragy 0-60 in 4.1 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.54@109.46mph. I only managed 1 run, launching @2krpm just to get a rough idea and confirm my Butt-Dyno. Outside temp was 76f

0-60

1/4 mile
12.1@115.2mph with a piggyback-daeyh9b.jpg

In comparison to my very first track times below.
