C43 AMG Start Up

As some of you know I have the AWE Track exhaust, Weistec Downpipes and a stage 2 OE tune. The cold start, driving around town and WOT will wake the dead it sounds sick and loud as heck, but the warm start is too quiet. Anyone else with a similar set up agree? Like wtf. I understand it's not a V8, it's twin turbo'd and blah blah blah but I mean come on. It's annoying like in that other thread where many are annoyed at the rev limiter in park. (In which I agree!)

v6's are some of the most uninspiring sounding engines out there. This one sounds pretty decent given that it's a v6 and turbocharged.

you can always put into sport+ before starting the car in order to get some burbles (present on warm start too). But, you're basically complaining about something that cannot be changed more than you have already done.

if you like turbo sounds and would like to have more racecar turbo sounds, filters/ blow off valves and intakes would help you there.

I like to complain

I have BOV's, does nothing with sound during start up since there is no boost during start up. Guess i'll just buy a V8 next time and straight pipe it. My girlfriend hates me

There's nothing else you can do. As long as the turbos are there your car will be subdued on warm starts. It's not a v6 thing either. My father's 488 startup is very quiet too. The car even opens the baffles on startup just to give it a bark, but it gets quiet after 1 second.
On a side note, you want louder? I just took my first local route drive with my AWE track and I love it as is. I can't imagine the sound with no cats. I pulled up last night and my dog was staring at my car out the window like WTF. I revved it and he started barking like crazy. After dinner I asked my wife if she wanted to hear my car. She shoots me a look and says, yes I heard you pull up before, a d no I'm not giving you the satisfaction.

Damn man I bet you're not kidding. That thing is probably obnoxiously loud! I've got the same but on stock exhaust and it's still almost enough to walk the dead. Super quiet in comfort mode with just mild throttle but when you pin it in 'Sport+' it's like a completely different animal. You have any clips? I'd love to hear it if you do.

And startup is whatever for me. I'd much rather have the ability to rev it to the limiter in park, but as long as it sounds good when it's moving, I'm happy. And this car certainly does make me happy!

Nonsense! V6's sound really great and have an beautifully exotic tone to them when done right. Problem is, most don't hear proper ones. Youtube some Audi B5 S4's. And even though it's not a true V6, the VR6 from VW is one of the greatest sounding engines in history! Until recently, there wasn't a big v6TT market. Now that Europe has been clamping down on emissions, they seem to be in everything so exhausts are only going to get better sounding from here on.

I have a related question. Have only had the car a week but notice that it revs high on a cold start, with the RPMs dropping if I give it about thirty seconds. Is this typical of the engine, is it a new-car thing, or is it something to pay attention to?

It's pretty crazy how we interpret how much we like the sound of an engine based on cylinders. Obviously it's gotta be true as a 4 cylinder sounds like absolute crap compared to a v12, but are we sure? Could it be in our head as that is what society teaches us? 3 cylinder? Crap. 4 cylinder? Crap. v6 cylinder? That's nice. v8? Oh hell yeah! v10? Good god! V12? **Jizzes in pants**

It just works out so perfect. Sure, some prefer a v8 to a v12, but for the most part, the more cylinders (up to v12 at least) equals the more sexiness. I wish that I could manipulate reality and do an experiment where we switched the sound of a bigger engine with 4 banger. If a Zonda's exhaust note sounded like a Civic, would people still cream their pants when they get to hear a cold start for the first time? lol sorry guys... Wake-n-bake got me hard this morning

If I'm understanding you correctly, what you are talking about is the literal "cold start." The cold-start isn't just starting it when it's cold, it's the car's initial warmup process. Basically it's an emissions deal where it runs the car at a higher RPM to warm up the cat(s) with the secondary air system. It's pretty standard on cars for decades now. What were your last cars? lol

That's just the car getting all the components hot enough to make the emissions equip work properly.

Actually the last car I had was a 2016 Audi A4 and didn't notice it as much, but I appreciate the information.
