ADVICE C43 OR GLC COUPE 43 AMG
Hi everyone, though I am still away from trading in my lease, I do like to take my time in researching my next vehicle. This includes me doing diligent researching and also from getting inputs from you, actual owners.
Currently I have a C300 with pretty much all the bells and whistles. My only regret was getting it as a four cylinder. At the time when I picked her up, the C450 was out of stock and the C43's weren't out yet. I was excited about just owning my first Mercedes that I took what they had. Don't regret getting the Mercedes as I love the car but definitely want a six cylinder one. Now before all you AMG bashers start lecturing me about how the C43 or the coupe is not a real AMG here is a message to you all "I DON'T CARE ABOUT THE AMG BADGE, I ONLY CARE ABOUT THE 6 CYLINDERS. SO UNLESS YOU'RE GOING TO BUY MY CAR WITH YOUR MONEY, ZIP IT" Sorry for the caps but wanted to get my point across.
So can you owners with C43's and GLC 43 AMG chime in on your likes and dislikes of your car. I'd like to know why you like one over the other. I live in NYC and as I am sure for those who know, potholes are a common thing so makes sense for the coupe to be the one. Also, the price difference when similarity put together is only about 3k more for the coupe. Really wouldn't hurt the lease payments by much. Sounds like I should naturally go for the coupe but I actually love the C class. Again, only want the 6 cylinder because I miss the extra pull on highway speeds. I'm not looking to race her or show her off. I'm almost 50 worked all my life and just want what I've worked so hard to get.
Thanks for all those who care enough to read and reply,
Stay safe on the road.

The GLC coupe-u-vee is fugly. Get the SUV. It's better looking and has more headroom and more usable cargo space while being slightly lighter.
I own both a C450 and a GLC43. In a straight line they are equals as far as acceleration goes. The GLC43 can corner almost as well as the sedan when you have the air suspension lowered. The ride quality on rough roads is vastly superior in my GLC43 compared to my C450. The suspension in the c450 is the only part of the car I find truly disappointing. The air suspension on the GLC43 OTOH, is great.

Agree with the points Mr J. said above. I would add the GLC has more interior space/headroom than a C, if that is a factor to consider for you. I have the GLC43 SUV, not the coupe, so sit in them all at the dealership and the decision on which one might become obvious. It was for me, I just had to wait a little longer for the 6-cyl 43 to come out back then.

Choose the one that you think you'll be happy. This is one of the advantage in leasing a car, you can choose to lease again new models if you want.

Depends on what you're doing with the car...if you're constantly hauling things that require the extra space go with the GLC. I have the C sedan and a 7 year old...it's got plenty of room to haul whatever I need, surprised a few times with what actually fit in the car. In the years to come we plan on getting the GLC43 SUV for my better half. Good luck on your search.

i enjoy everything about the c43 except the rattles inside. trying to get them all fixed but its a pain.
and the suspension setup. the performance is good but not great for how stiff it is in all modes and sacrificing overall comfort. im younger so stiffer suspension isnt horrible and can be slightly fixed by getting a summer tires non runflat setup. if you are leasing this wouldnt be as feasible.

Just an observation...If you are looking at the c43 sedan, then the GLC43 CUV would be a better match than the GLC43 SUV. Unless you need the cargo room and rear head room then you are just getting a taller c43 if you get the Coupe truck. I too was looking at the c43 sedan at first; however, the wife wanted me to get an SUV to haul stuff. It didn't make any sense to me to go from c43 sedan to GLC43 coupe if the purpose was to have a family hauler. If you just want the GLC43 coupe because of the looks then I would get it. I think it looks bad-*** in Black or dark color with night package. I don't like the lighter trims colors as the black plastic that goes around the bottom of the vehicle and wheel arches makes it seem like there is a big wheel gap.
Performance wise, the c43 and GLC43 are almost the same maybe a tenth of a second different 0-60 per car and driver. Quartermile, is definitely better for c43 as I have not yet to see a publication that has the GLC43 in the 12's stock, mostly 13.0 and 13.1. I love my GLC43 SUV and I really have no complaints about my vehicle/purchase besides getting the white designo leather (attracts dirt). My interior is holding up, no rattles, no creaks and the leather seats are super comfortable.
2018 model GLC43 comes with Performance exhaust so you will essentially have the same sounding vehicle as the C43 with performance exhaust. IMHO you cant go wrong with either the GLC or C. I would be in the C with performance exhaust if it wasn't for the wife. Also the C would have been cheaper too.

C43 Coupe > C43 Sedan > GLC SUV > GLC Coupe imo. The GLC coupe has really weird looking proportions, kinda reminds me of those really ugly BMW 3/5-series GTs with the faux-hatchback. Now the GLE coupe, that's a good looking (if polarizing) car.

I have a GLC43 Coupe. I love it. Feels fast, sounds great
And in my personal opinion, I feel it looks much much better than the GLC SUV. The rear taillights especially looks awesome.

I agree with this. I think the newly redesigned SUVs (GLC, GLE, GLA, etc.) have really weird looking rear-ends. I love the way the GLC/GLE coupe looks.
