S+ extreme bunny hops fixed. Possible fix for others.
I had my car in for Winter tires and recall work. Brand new 8,000 KM. Like everyone else i noticed the extreme bunny hops in low gears if you hesitate or modulate the gas in a non committed fashion. I kind of learned how to avoid it by modulating my foot differently but I wasn't convinced it was all me. I asked the dealer to look into it and only update the ECU or Transmission programming if they found a tech bulletin specifically sighting this issue.
They found one for the Tranny based off a bulletin mentioning this issue (should have asked for the SB number). Also they updated the fuel mapping based on the VIN there was a newer version so take that for what you will. I can confirm that I have tried to replicate the lurchiness in low gears in S+ and haven't been able to at all. Feels smoother in lower gears overall and more confidence inspiring knowing i wont look like i dont know how to drive my car as it bucks like a bull when i exit parking lots. So ask your dealer to do the tranny and fuel map updates. My dealer was Mercedes Benz Country Hills in Calgary, AB Canada if you need to reach out and ask them if your dealer gives you the run arounds.
My car is a 2017 Sedan. This is the only issue I had. No rattles, paint or finish issues or fitment defects that I have seen so far.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip, I've been experiencing the same issue since I got my car but have been delaying going in because I wasn't sure there was a fix. Does anyone else have the code/SB number for the fix? So it was both an ECU and TCU update?

The TCU update was supposedly the fix. The ECU was due to an update not directly related to the issue in their mind. But being in IT I am wary of making too many changes to anything because then I lose continuity of what the fix actually was. So.. I would hazard a guess that any one of those two updates or both may have been the fix in this case we will never know for sure.

I booked an appointment to address the "hop" on S+ at the Vancouver Terminal location after reading this thread. I wanted them to confirm that there is a software update and I provided my VIN.
The customer care center advisor/guest confirmed there is an update for my car and the one available is related to the "fuel map" so that is the one I'm going to get. I mentioned if there is a tranny software upgrade but she said only one was available based on my VIN.
My appointment is going to be on Dec. so its still awhile. Sorry she didn't tell me the TSB or any reference number so I will ask the service advisor when I get there.

I have an AMR tune and I got it before any updates were available since I have an 8/2016 build c43 sedan.. I don’t notice any bunny hops with my tune..

id have to look at receipt, but i just went in complained about the tranny hesistating at low gears when stopping and also hesistating at 5000 rpm +. The low end required a TCU update. I got the latest version. And the high end prompted a ecu fuel mapping etc update which i asssume is the fuel pump update part. pretty much you need to complain to get updates other wise they dont fix.

first of all, i actually was getting bunny hops in 1st gear. so i wanted it taken care of. and sometimes upper end did feel sluggish. And the radio even after update still sucks, so i know its hardware at this point.
whats scummy is that mercedes doesnt apply software updates unless you complain. BMW you can go in and ask for updates no problem. I dont have to complain to apple to update my phone (for better or worse lol) they just push it out to me.
With cars that rely so heavily on software for functional AND safety features now a days, updates to the newest versions should be no hassle to get as each revision makes it better and safer.

another note to add to this thread. I just put my 18" weels back on with stock run flats and sizes for the winter. there is a .3" difference in diameter between front and back stock, and what do you know, i got some 1st gear lurching and skipping again. On the 19s after update, nothing. I have 235 and 265 on the 19s which are within .1" of each other. I am wondering if under certain speeds with the delta speed between the stock front and rear wheel the computer doesnt know what to do.
do you guys with the oem 19s which have an identical tire diameter have this problem? or is it only guys with the 18s?
