Jerky downshifts when coming to stop (2017 C43 Sedan)
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anybody else feels that downshifting to 3rd and 2nd gears when coming to a complete halt is a little jerky/noticeable? I might have seen another thread in the past talking about this issue. I really wish the car was a little more smoother coming to a stop at a light! It is not terrible but, it does make it difficult to decelerate smoothly.
My car has 10k miles on it, and I have only had it for a month. I bought it as a CPO. I am wondering if you guys have similar experiences or if it could be a software update issue?!
Your feedback is much appreciated!

I experience the same in sport and sport +,and my individual which is sport+ on the engine but comfort on the ride. I believe the abrupt shifting is exaggerated throttle sensitivity in these modes. My old e46 M3 had a sport button that bucked and jerked the car so badly in first gear it was impossible to pull away from a light with any smoothness, I simply turned the button on after reaching second gear to enjoy the throttle response without the jerkiness. To me it’s the same kind of feeling driving my C43 in those modes. Not sure if that helps or not but thought I would share.

I dont think this is specific to the 9speed. Its a mechanical function of downshifting at a certain MPH and the rev range of an engine.
If 1st gear is 0-40mph and 2nd gear is up to 65mph....if you are going 35mph when you downshift into 1st gear your car will JOLT and stutter because the engine is near redline as you shifted into 1st gear. The "jerkiness" you are feeling is the engine trying to rev in the selected gear to match the speed you were already going before you downshifted.

that would make sense. since in sport and sport+ the car holds each gear longer and higher in the rev range before it shifts. which would make the car jerkier when you downshift.
if you were downshifting into 1st gear at like 2000rpm, you wouldnt notice. if you were downshifting into 1st gear at like 4000rpm or 5000-6000rpm it would be unpleasant.

I only notice it in sport +. all other modes are fine. it's super annoying but whatever, I'll deal with it considering how awesome the car accelerates and sounds in sport +.

I had this same issue with my C450 and after complaining to my dealer a few times they finally updated the transmission software and now it shifts perfectly.

Show them this. They'll just run a diagnostic to make sure you have the latest software. Some say this update solves the problem. I haven't had it done personally though.

C43 jerk
No one know what happend to all German car, like Mercedes,BMW,AUDI.
They are all the premium car, but offer so poor of driving.
If you search in google, Many owner complained Merc,BMW,AUDI the same problem.
The car jerk, hesitate and lost of power, which are the main issues.
But Merc,BMW,Audi can not find out and solve the problem.
I experienced in driving all of them, and the symptom are exactly the same.
My car are Merc W212, BMW F10, Audi A5.
I found out that the root cause of those problem is, all those car use Bosch ECU.
That why the different car manufacturer, but give the same symptom.
If you are the first owner of your car, you may notice that after first 1500km break in,
the car start to jerk, hesitate and lost of power.
This symptom will not happend to every car. But 8 of 10 will face the issues.
The ECU will adjust the engine power depend on the driving style of driver.
But most of the time they will adjust to decrease engine power.
Which we never understand the funny logical.
Because of decrease engine power, it cause the gear box jerk, acceleration hesitate,
no smooth at all.
So, the best way is, bring car to dealer and ask them to reprogram all the ECU software and gear box control unit.
