Cold Start with Valves Open: How to
Hey guys,
This is already on the forums somewhere submerged but for all the new 18 c43 owners, I wanted to share this about starting that car and see if you guys could corroborate and I’m not just tricking myself to believe it’s louder.
You may have noticed there is no easy way to start the car in sport+, and you can’t very well press the PE button when the car is off. However there is a way to start the car with more noise and the pipes open. Without your foot on the pedal, press start stop button once, then press the start stop button again. A light should be illuminated in the tachometer saying “SPORT”. Now, put your foot on the brake and start the car.
Maybe that’s common knowledge but it wasn’t for me. You will also still have to open the valves again once it’s started. Let me know if you guys hear a difference. Cheers!

You guys should invest in a asr-component.de which is a module that allows you to control your exhaust independently from the car.
I bought one it is freaking awesome.

? Not sure I understand the purpose of the module. Doesn't the PE button in the car control the flaps being open or closed, and wouldn't that make the module redundant? Or does it do something else that I'm not aware of. Educate me please!

I think the jist is that it garuntees control even when the car is off. Conversely, anyone could try what I was suggesting and see if that works too. May save you money...

yeah, if that's the case, I'd prefer to save my money. Push button twice (move key to position two)--> change to sport+ mode --> foot on brake --> start engine --> smile!

Is this what he was explaining? I've known this... I'm confused about what he's saying about SPORT and then having to reopen the flaps....

yeah, I just assumed that what he was talking about. Not sure I remember seeing SPORT without actually putting the car in sport or sport+

The purpose of the electronic module is that opens the flap fully or closes it fully. The stock system keeps the flaps variable with the rpm of the engine, so only in the high RPM ranges will it open fully. In lower RPM it stays partially open. If you put this module in, the control is taken away from the ME and the module controls it, either on or off. So even in low RPM the flap is fully open, meaning the car is much louder in lower rpms.

What is the advantage to having the PE valves fully opened when starting the car...besides the louder sound it makes and pissing your neighbors off?
Is it a "Fast n' Furious" thing?

I have the controller and installed last week, I plan on making a thread soon but these damn blizzards are messing me up.
Basically you install this in your trunk and with a controller you are able OVERRIDE the cars setting.
The car only fully opens the valves on our cars over a certain MPH and throttle imput, other than that they are partially open.
Also when you do the SPORT plus start up the valves close about 3 to 5 seconds after the car starts, which IMO ruins the JOY of a cold start.
So I bought this and now I can open close valves when I want OR set it to default and allow the car to take over.
Here are some vids that sold me:
CAN YOU SAY LOUD?? Listen to the pops and crackles, sorry if I am a fan boy but that is what I want!

Sorry just got back to looking at this post. Yeah that’s what I was saying; and I wanted to share with those who may not know.
to clarify, if you do this the only thing you get is the open valves —> more noise. But you didn’t buy a Civic so you probably want (some) noise at least.
And once you do that, I was saying you have to press the valve button again because they won’t just automatically stay open.

i tried the process, the sport light illuminated (along with a handful of other lights) ... started the car and I think it sounds normal. no sound increase in my opinion.
