Exhaust Flap Module
#51
I noticed with the 2019 face lifted car the PE is quieter until you hit around 3500-4k. I love the sound and the volume from that rpm to redline. I would love it if this module helped in those lower rpms. Does anyone with the 2019 have it installed and does it help?

Now that it is Spring, I really want to hop on this but it is just too damn expensive for a simple on/off switch.. $450 CAD to hold open the flaps?!?
ASR, give us a group buy, I am sure we can get at least 5 members on board!

Would you guys believe that my car didnt have the PE, so i had to fit an aftermarket exhaust. But I got tired of always having to fiddle with the on/off remote (also the low rpm drone when the valves are open at 1500rpm was insane) so I had to separately buy an OBDII valve controller so the valves would open at a certain RPM?
Basically the exact opposite of you guys lol.

The low rpm drone was so bad i ended up driving with the exhaust off half the time. And pressing the button became too much trouble after a few weeks. Felt like I was "trying too hard" if that makes any sense.
Sounds great above 4k rpm though. The OBDII automatic controller makes the exhaust 10x more enjoyable imo.

I'm a bit late to the party here, but I had a quick exhaust question for you. I just picked up a new 2019 c43 and regarding the exhaust, I find it doesn't pop/crackle nearly as much as the 2016-2018 model. Granted I need to break her in so i'm keeping in under 4k rpm, but still, even in S+ with PE open (against dealer recommendation, but hell, I need to test the damn thing) I'm seeing virtually no pops, and when it does, they are barely noticeable. Did you experience anything similar by any chance?

I have read but I can not confirm but there might be a filter in exhaust muffling the pops and bangs.
The module will increase the sounds of the bangs because it opens the flaps fully

Hang in there - I just passed the 1,500km mark yesterday. break in complete.
When I picked it up, I had the same thoughts, but there was a marked change in the exhaust (even <4,500 RPM) at the ~800km mark. I noticed the pops, bangs, and burble picked up a ton.
Also keep in mind that it needs the revs up a bit to pull off those tricks; even in S+ it's pretty civil <2,000 RPM.
Dang is it fun now though. the sound is awesome.

Well that's definitely reassuring. Thanks for sharing. I'm only at 150kms over here, so 1500 seemed like forever just to find out I was going to remain disappointed. Now at least with your feedback I can cruise through June knowing the best is yet to come.

The flap module was a nice little upgrade. Once above 4k the module isn't doing anything because the flaps are open 100% stock anyways. Where it helps is below 4k and start ups.

Hi. I hope it is not too for me to join this discussion. I recently retrofitted the PE exhaust by purchasing from Germany. The problem now I face is that the flaps cannot be closed because they have no connection with the central console, notwithstanding it is what I want to make the retrofitted works simple. Sometimes I found it is too loud when I need a quiet cruising after work. Does this ASR component solve my problem?

I'm assuming since you retro-fitted the PE exhaust, you would have all the components of the PE exhaust, just without the button on the center console.
If that's the case then the ASR should work fine. There are 3 settings on the ASR module. Fully open, fully closed and stock setup so yes, you can close
them as you wish at a push of a button. But as the post above says, this assumes that the power is there. Everything is in the module that is under
the bottom of the trunk. ASR just plugs directly into there, it's a 2-minute install.

Hi - If the center console PE button is off/disabled, and ASR remote is set to 100% open, would the valve be 100% open?
I am trying to understand the dependency on the center console PE button being on or off.
Thanks,

Interior button doesn't make a difference. Valves so whatever ASR module tells them to do unless you have the valve module in disabled mode

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe ASR sells exclusively through renntech for 10 times the price now... I would recommend going Cete route IMHO. It's more seamless integration but does requiring hardwiring into a car module and is more difficult to reverse. But also it's much less expensive since it doesn't have the renntech tax
