Exhaust Flap Module

For those of you that bought the module that keeps the exhaust flaps open, what do you think of it so far? I'm back and forth on getting one but I'm curious how much of a difference it actually makes (besides cold starts).

Biggest difference is a deeper sound througthro the entire rpm range. I personally really like the difference and think it was worth it.

it's a must have imo, really makes the driving experience for the car that much better

if you had one option, the performance exhaust is the one to get. everything else would be secondary to me!

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the ASR component, not the actual performance exhaust. The ASR allows you to keep the flaps open the entire time with touch if a button on the fob. Makes a difference for sure.

I'm confused on this. Doesn't the "Loud Button" on the center console do the same thing?

OK, what is it that I don't understand? It seems that this is an item that accomplishes only 1 thing that's not already available ... it'll allow the performance-exhaust setting to persist across mode changes and (re)starts. Wow. I can press the button a _lot_ for a cost of about $375 USD. Maybe I just have too much Scottish blood in me. :-)

Also note that opening the exhaust via the remote only will not give you the crackles and pops. You still need to make sure the exhaust button on the dash is pressed to get them.

I bought this on the expectation that it would create a louder and more throaty cold start (which it does), but I suspect you will be a little disappointed if you think it will achieve anything more.

All this thing does is allow you to keep the flaps open 100% of the time. Even with the exhaust button on, the flaps will still open and close, this just overrides that and keeps them open. End result is a deeper throatier sound throughout the entire rpm range. It's not mind blowing over stock but definitely worth $250 if you ask me. It also adds the most incredible cold starts in the fully open position.

.....It's "rofl" funny, eh? Okay.

But how are we wrong?

Because the way it seems (and is), ya'll are spending hundreds of dollars so you can have a louder cold-start... I'm not saying you'd be stupid to do so, but you definitely wouldn't be smart either

It is just not that the exhaust sounds so much better on and off Throttle.

The pops and bangs are 10 times louder with module

Are they? Inspired by this thread I tested mine earlier with and without the module, on an equally spirited drive, and it sounded pretty much the same.

Both WOT upshift bangs and the crackles you get when lifting off sounded identical.

Hopefully it's me missing something because I would love it to be 10x louder.

It's definitely deeper and louder but definitely not 10x for me.

lolololol ya'll hooked on that placebo drug

McGyver is rolling over in his grave right now (that dude dead? I don't even know but if he is, he's rolling) I mean, you probably could have just jammed a stick into the flap to keep it open; a stick, chewing gum, and a rubber band or two. Unconventional? ya, but sticks are free....

What’s funny is your concern with what others do with their money. Is it crazy to spend hundreds or thousands to lower a car just for the looks? Or for those who spend g’s on tunes and downpipes just to go faster from stoplight to stoplight? Cosmetic mods like carbon fiber steering wheels, custom interiors and such? How about the people who spend g’s on PPF or wraps? Etc....?

Yes!!!

Thanks for your concern but my pockets are fine

My concern level is pretty low. So no need for concern, but I do appreciate your concern

If you have the money then by all means, spend it on whatever tickles your fancy. Just as it's my freedom to post my opinions on the matter, it's everyones right to mod their car however they please. I just wanted to understand what this item was for. Which was all fine and dandy but then everyone started to claim it's something that it's not? Well I just can't not say something at that point
