Disabled Features for US-Spec Cars?

Hello, I am getting a new C-class within the next 2 weeks and was wondering if anyone knows of features/options that are changed for US-Spec cars?

I found out that features such as the Adaptive Highbeam Assist 32 LED Multi-beam technology will be disabled due to archaic laws and regulations (an expensive ~$1000 option).

Also, those hideous rear plate bumps on the coupe are installed for the same reasoning...

I'm from Canada but we seem to be under the same rules as our neighbours in the South.

Thanks in advance!

Where'd you hear adaptive highbeam assist will be disabled? That's not the case... the intelligent light system is an awesome feature and well worth the money...

Not much info on this topic and I cannot confirm if it's true or not but from what I have researched seems to be the case.

And another feature that I know which is disabled in Canada is the blue led illumination during unlocking of the car.

I’m not sure about Canada either but the NHTSA must have approved it in the US because i’ve had it on my 17 and 18...

The blue LED’s are a different story. I love the Euro version of our lights! They’re on my mod list..

That is good to hear, the link is a bit dated.

there are two versions of the adaptive high beam assist. One is normal version and one is the plus version. The us only has the normal version where high beams auto matically come on and off. The euro version has this but also the bending of the lights essentially. The high beams are pretty much always on for better curve and around car illumination.

this youtube video is what europe has but we dont

Essentially, we just lose out on the "predictive" bending technology?
If that is the case, I think that would be beneficial. I wouldn't want my car to do something on its own while I may be tired behind the wheel making me think I am turning when I am not.

I thought we would have the anti-glare features and headlight rotating with the steering wheel disabled which was my main complaint with the headlight option.

The high beam assist shown in the video is amazing in practice. Never need to worry about turning the high beams on or off and always have the maximum safe light available. Occasionally it can be a little slow to react especially if facing another car on the crescent of a hill, but overall it is superb.

Sorry I am not really catching on the differences between the euro version and us version. There is no bending of lights during curves, no bending of lights when I turn the steering wheel, no 32 LED computer-controlled glare-free technology, and no blue LED ambient light during unlock?!. Is the only feature that AHA gives the automatic turn on and off?

The only difference is the US spec does not have the Multibeam which is the 32 LED tech. So you don't have the anti glare around curves (basically your highs are always on) and the blue LED on unlock. The lights still bend with the wheel and obviously you turn the wheel around curves...

Bummer, the Multibeam technology seems to be the main selling point of the headlights.

Is it possible to have it enabled through some computer magic?

Anyways, thanks for the response that really cleared it up!

You'll need to by the euro version. Either way the intelligent headlight system is very useful and one of my favorite features. The lights look good on and off, they light up the night very well, and they function without any thought what so ever.... Definitely worth the money..
