Launching with sport exhaust
Did a few brake launches earlier and noticed something a little strange with the car.
When up-shifting usually in sport+ there is a loud crack from the exhaust, however sometimes when launching it via brake boosting the car shifts without making a sound at all and will keep doing these 'silent' shifts up until I let off.
Anyone have any ideas why it does this?

you mean a loud pop/bang from switching to 1st to 2nd? i get that occasionally aswell with the standard sport exhaust when brake boosting it. Does it because 1st to 2nd is so damn quick.

Sorry let me clear this up...
I have the performance exhaust and when driving / launching normally in sport+ I get the loud bang when the car shifts up.
When brake boost launching, the bang is gone from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd and probably even higher up the gears. The bang returns when I let off the throttle and start driving normally again.

He is stating that his car is inconsistent in the way in pops, not that he is praising it...
OP, I haven't ever noticed that on my car. If you are a member on the AMG private lounge, one of the MB techs could probably answer that one.

Let me provide you with the first useful reply instead of just being an troll. I know exactly what you are talking about.
When you launch, if the boost gauge fills halfway minimum, the pops on the upshift would disappear for the entire acceleration run. So for example, if I do not brake boost, and just stomp on the gas, I will get the upshift crack every gear change, but if I brake boost hard enough( fill the boost bar halfway), the upshift bang will disappear.
I am not sure why this happens, but I have a theory. I think the ECU actually detects that you are trying to launch the car and cuts off the extra fuelling which is required for the bang, which in turn makes it faster. An gear upshift with the bang will always be slower than one without a bang. This is serves as a great indicator of how good you launch is. On the perfect launch, the upshift bang will disappear. If the upshift bangs disappear from 1 to 3rd, and then comes back, you did not launch hard enough.
And its not just your car doing it, its everyone who ever launched the car hard. So its totally normal.

See.. it’s normal.. it’s a beautiful thing.. I love it..check out my video.. I don’t know how else to say it..it’s normal.. not sure why people are calling me a troll.. I gave a video... I said it’s normal 3 times.. what else do you want from me? I didn’t build the car or program the Mercedes ECU.. I’m just trying to help.. Video is in post #10 in case anyone missed it... I quit!!

When the bangs vanish on boost, gears change faster and means the ECU is running optimally to put down the power instead of throwing in extra fuel and retarding the timing to make the bang bang noises.. if you lift off the gas for a second the noise comes right back.. now do you understand why it’s a beautiful thing!!! ??

As I understand the popping noise is added "cosmetically" to sound sporty by deliberately inducing mis-fires. In sport+ I would imagine that they'd dispense with that in interest of getting maximum power. The whole popping and burbling bit is fairly recent with automatics and one has to wonder why earlier high performance cars didn't do it, I know that my C55 AMG didn't.
