Second this. The only mention on this forum of a bricked ECU that I can recall was with one of the big 3 flash tuners. I don't want to sound too "head in the sand" on the topic, but if no one is posting about this with any frequency here (MBworld), it's not something I would be too concerned about.

It has happened in the BMW community, on several occasions. You can turn this up with a quick "JB4 issue" google search. That being said, it should be taken with a grain of salt. People tune cars that are high mileage, plenty of existing problems and then you have the possibility of human error for install and/or custom tuning.

Yes, I suppose that is it. I did Google it and found plenty out there on it. Granted, it hasn't been around on Mercedes nearly as long as other vehicles so possibly why we don't see it in that regard. It does scare a bit and I really want to install it on my car.

Piggy back isn’t for everyone. Maybe go with a full tune or a Dinan piggyback.

If I decide to go for a piggyback, the JB4 will be the choice.

I think even if you have full tune JB4 would still be beneficial

100%. It's always better to have both.

Really? I didn't realize you could do both a piggyback and a full ECU flash tune. Would that be pushing it too hard? Could the tranny handle that?

It wouldn't be like running double the power - you'd just use each for what they're most good at.

ECU flash for AFR and timing
JB4 for boost control, logging and other cool canbus features that a full tune can't do

Well I’ll be....

I guess buying an extended extra year of warranty on my car was a bad idea if I decide to tune.
