Wheel size itself has no affect on power or the overall performance times (0-60 and 1/4 mile), if the overall diameter is the same and the same tires are used. Wheel weight does affect performance though, so a set forged 18s will weigh less than factory 18s or 19s. Realistically, the most you'd gain would be about 1% horsepower to the wheels, give or take. Less than 1/10th of a second in the 1/4 mile .
Tires will make as much, or more of a difference, based on grip and launch ability. A set of wider or stickier tires will be a more efficient way to add a tiny bit of performance, both in a straight line and laterally, than any wheel change.
But to answer your question: No you don't need 18s to make similar performance numbers.
so what else can I add other than the jb4 and e30 to see low 3.1 or 3.2 0-60 times ? Would Water meth injection help ? Would downpipes ? Can I even pair downpipes with the jb4 ? And can I still run map 2 if I’m mixing 91 octane and e85 to make e30. There’s no 93 in cali

Asking for over a second to be shaved off a 0-60 is a lot.
What r ur times now?
I don’t have the car ! I would only buy the car if I can see low 0-60 times of 3.1-3.4. If I won’t be able to without spending over 4K in mods, I would just have to go with m340i xdrive
Terry gave out a firmware upgrade few days ago. Pretty consistent results now in map 7. I am sure I can hit much lower when I fiddle my own map. But overall the car has gotten much more stronger since the update. Pretty sure I can improve my previous time with this. Will be pretty sweet to finally get into 11.4s by spending just 800 canadian dollars (500USD haha). Trap might suffer a bit, car has much better low end now.
PS: The time at the bottom are my stock times without JB4. I should also add that my car is pretty lowered (H&R sport springs is giving different heights to different people). So I have some excessive camber issues, (around -3.5), which really does not help with grip. Also my car is running on 19"s, which some of tuner's best times are not set on (usually super light 18s).

Not sure of the 0-60 time, because I tend to pay attention to the 1/4. As for map 7, yes you need a meth kit, because map 7 is specifically the WMI map. Map 6 is the user-customizable, non-meth map, and what you would use if you don't have WMI. Here are the maps:

I don’t think it’s that much quicker than c43
im not c43 fan boy, it’s a great car and I love it but has its issues.
it seems to run faster times than listed in some articles
