Angry My C43 stalled on its own at idle.

Anyone have issue that their W205 C43 stalled while idle? It happened twice in a week that my car stalled on it's own when the car stopped at the traffic right. It went to A at Stop, engine off to save gas, then once I release the brake to get the car move, the car stalled, all the lights lights up at the dash board. Gear went to N and when I press the start button again and shift down to D. It runs like nothing happened. It is a 2017 C43.

It happened 4 times in total since I got the car for 11 months. The last 4 times was within the lat 45 days.

It sucks when you are in a busy intersection and your car stalled and 10 cars are waiting behind you to turn...lol

Yea, It caught me off guard, didn't even know what happened. You should definitely take it into the dealer, 4 times in 45 days is odd.

You are in Toronto and it is winter. Have you considered that maybe the fuel is not reaching the engine due to being too cold or that you fuel is condensed or foaming?

I picked up the car in December 2017 and then JAN and FEB is the coldest month in Canada. There were no issue back then, the first time the car stalled was late September and it was still near 20C in Toronto. I doubt temperature has to do with it.

It also happened once that I drove the car to go to work after 40 min. The car should be well heated up by now.

It's gasoline not diesel.
The cloud point of gasoline is usually at < -50 deg C (about -80 F) which is extremely cold even by Canadian standards. In fact the only places in Canada that routinely get this cold are within the arctic circle. Batteries and starting systems typically fail at much warmer temps that this. There is zero chance that the temp had anything to do with the OP's failure.

OP, I had a similar failure occur once while I was in stop and go traffic and using distronic. Were you using distronic when this occurred?

Car is now at the dealership. Hope they find the issue and fix it.
I'm just worry that they couldn't detect it since it happens just randomly. It may stall twice a week or nothing the whole week.

They update the software which is pending for our cars.
They found the error code, did some test with the battery, put a new battery.

Drove it for 2 days now and the car haven't stall yet (hope it won't happen again)

I have had the same problem you had. It has happened to me once and then It failed to start while parked and hitting the start button. Was the software update you got for this issue or for something else? Did the updates and new battery work for you?

Yes, my car did not stall again after the new battery and the update.
If it happens to you, go get it fixed at your dealership.

Just picked up my brand spanking new 2019 tonight and on the way home, it stalled at two different lights. Pretty disappointing to see this to say the least.

And incredibly embarrassing to be stuck in the front of a line at a green light in a temp tags shiny AMG unable to even move.

Any other 2019s hit this??

Exactly my feeling when it stalled and got honked by the cars behind you.

Go get it fixed by your dealership right away.

Trying...but didn’t realize just how hard it is to get a Mercedes serviced after being with bmws for so long. Man.

This is is crazy that this can even happen. Happened twice more today. If anyone else with a 2019 has seen this let me know! Dealers and service guy I called sound like they think I am either stupid or crazy!

Possibly related to the below? My 2019 sedan still at VPC waiting for software update. My guess is it's to fix this issue.

Good find, thanks for sharing this. Not 100% sure if this is related, but it definitely sounds like it could be! Wonder why it says they won't start fixing it until the 28th....

Ya I never got a definite answer that this was the software update my order was waiting on. Just seemed like too close together to be a coincidence.

Yes, I tried to scheduled a service and the earliest date is in 5 weeks.
I called the service department and mentioned the car stalled on it's own for several times. The guy was kind enough to give me an appointment for Emergency check. Basically, they will work on your car when there is a gap between appointment A and appointment B. They may need your car for more than a day since they cannot guarantee when Technician have time to work on your car.

A tip if you want to avoid stalling before the car getting check out from dealership. Press the A button to disable to ECO mode, so the car won't go on ECO mode on it's own when the car is idle, but you have to remember to do it every time you re-start the car.
OR put the car on Sport + all the time, lol
The car won't go on ECO mode when you are on Sport +.

They can read the error code when they read the car. If you want to check my service invoice from my dealership for this issue. Send me a PM with your email address.

UPDATE: I took my car in yesterday for service for the no restart issue coming out of ECO STOP. They looked at the car and found one stored code P1D0700 related to door sensors and the seat belt buckle switches. They tested the door and buckle sensors and they passed. At the time the stalling/no start occurred, I was by myself once, and with my oldest son the second time. We were both belted in and the doors were closed... I believe the code is unrelated to the stalling issue in my case. They also tested the battery and it passed.

They found two updates for the car that they applied. One was for ME and one for VGS according to the paperwork I received. With the updates the car behaves slightly different. For instance, It seems like the brakes hold slightly harder/longer when pulling away when in hold mode (that's how it felt). I have not put enough miles on the car yet to see if the problem is resolved. So far so good though.

With my previous c400 had a stall or more like a loss of power on city street and I went to the dealer right away told them the car lost power when shifting lanes on the highway and almost got creamed by a 18 wheeler. LAWSUIT VILLE. Needles to say car stayed at dealer drove out with a loaner. They took a week to try and find the issue and would not return it till they found it. They had fly in a regional tech guy from Ottawa to figure it out. Don't be a softy use my line guarenteed instant action.

So what was the fix on the C400?
Battery? Software update?

didnt really pay attention to work order this was 2 years ago but it was ecu electronic gremlins I think. Try my line tell them you were changing lanes at 100 km on highway and lost power or stall and oncoming trailer had to swerve to avoid killing you ...act angry it helps lol. Trust me they will react large risk on their part.

Your C400 issue is not the same that we have on our C43 then, we don't lose power at all.
Our car just stalled when they car went on ECO mode and the engine didn't turn back on right after.
