JB1 and 0-60 times

I recently bought and had my shop instal the JB1. It seemed to add a little more power but I've been wondering if that's just me telling myself that it feels more powerful. So I bought a Dragy unit and went out the other night ran some 0-60 laps to see. Driving a 2018 C43 Sedan with AMG exhaust.

Now a few asterisks on these runs:

- Located in Calgary, Alberta (3400 feet about sea level)
- winter here so temps were around the 3 degrees celsius / 37 fahrenheit
- on SottoZero 3 winter tires
- running 91 Octane
- using default Map which I believe is Map 2

Fastest verified run was: 4.58 seconds

Seen vids online of people running under 4 and can assume it's on summers, warmer weather and 94 octane gas and lower elevation. I was in Vancouver, BC (at sea level) a few weeks ago, filled with 94 octane and the car seemed REMARKABLY faster but didn't have any way to time 0-60.

My question is, should I be expecting faster times with the above conditions?

Many factors play a part in achieving the full potential the car is capable of. Temps, DA (air density altitude) and fuel are three biggest external factors, especially with the JB1/4. The fastest times are a full second faster that what you've posted, but using a car/region-specific map6 boost table. As of this post, your DA is +/-1400ft (https://airdensityonline.com/track-r...strol_Raceway/). This is overall similar to my Fall DA and I could regularly pull 3.8-3.9sec 0-60s. Munis is in Toronto and he's pulling sub-3.5sec. Another guy in SE Asia has a much higher DA, but runs a meth kit and is pulling similar numbers. Work on a custom map6 and find some 93+ octane or run an E30 blend (4-4.5g E85, the rest 93) and you'll see big changes.

Also, you can use this site (or download an app) to check your DA and load up an appropriate custom map6 depending on conditions.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

So I have to ask as you seem to know a lot about this, do you feel that what I am getting in terms of my 0-60 times, with the factors I mentioned (winter tires, gas, temp, etc) that the JB1 is actually adding power and speed? Should I be getting faster times?

Closer to sea level, on summer tires, summer fuel blends, bone stock cars are hitting faster. For your conditions and map2, you're on the low end of the ball park. Set it to map0 and retest with your dragy, but also make sure to log runs as well. That will help show the boost numbers you're actually hitting.

Yes, but if you want to really dig in to it, record JB4 logs of the runs!

I guess I need to by the cable

Can I assume, summer tires, 94 octane and warmer summer temps will result in faster times?

Do those current numbers reflect a increase in HP over stock? I guess I just want to know if the installed JB1 is in fact giving me the gains as described.

Numbers vary dramatically based on a lot of factors. With the cable or blue tooth adapter you can go to map0 for a stock run for back to back comparisons.

Best 0-60 times you will get will likely be in colder temps than hotter temps. I would suggest you splurge on the $100 upgrade and the Bluetooth (if you have an upgradeable unit) and with finer tuning take at about 1/2 second of that 4.5 posted time in that DA. Many factors involved to get your best time. By logging your runs, you would be able to tell what adjustments you need to make to get your times closer to 3.xx seconds. My $.02 Gl, and enjoy your ride!

I think that time looks super slow. Sorry to say. I did 4.5 with a JB1 Map2 on dragy as well. But I am in a GLC43 and it was 65 degrees at the time with 71% humidity. Also my front tires were changed 1 week after that run.
I brake boosted to 2200rpm.

Edit: I know you were on winter tires and 91 octane but still seems a bit slow. Was the floor very wet? If the floor was very wet, then 4.5 with JB1 on Map1 seems like a reasonable time. Did you have a passenger?

ive done 4.2 stock and 3.6 with jb4. how are you launching? the launch in the c43 is an art that you need to master to get good times.

is your traction control on? you could be slipping in colder weather and throwing the traction light.

id run a map0 and compare to see the gain.

Do you regularly get 4.2 stock ? Is this your best? Whats your average?

These are mine:

Averages anywhere between 3.4 to 3.5. Dips to 3.3x when everything is perfect.

I have to agree...the time seemed slow compared to what I was seeing others run. I just chalked it up to winter tires, cold weather, and higher altitude. As i posted originally in Vancouver a month ago..the car felt remarkably faster.

Would a defective JB1 be possible? I don't have the cable to change the map, so maybe I'll have to figure out how to unplug it and test it from stock.

Update:

Ran a 4.20 the other night. I guess it's going in the right direction.
