Looks good. Can't tell from the photos, but did you pull the brake pad pins? If not, the paint around those two areas is gonna be trashed when the pop them out from the back.
if anyone is interested. Racing Brake is willing to make custom rotors for a c300/450/43 rear caliper upgrade. They already have the front 2 piece for our car. With this upgrade, the front and rear would match and you can retain your factory fronts which are honestly ample for most people on here. I have only found them to be in adequate on faster tracking with higher speeds above 120mph.
My legwork with the c63 amg oem rear calipers shows they can be bolt on and plug and play. We need 5 guys to pre order these custom 2 piece rotors. for the upgrade all you will need are the oem c63 rear calipers. You can find them used or i can help you get them new. they run about $400 per new painted in red or the carbon ceramic color. and about $350 if you want the gray.
I do not have cost yet, but my guess based on the c63 offering would be around $1000-1100 for the pair. Remember these are 2 piece rotors!
If there is enough interest, we can also talk to them about machining a bracket to mount the c63 caliper to the front as well. they already have a rotor for the c63 for the front too.
PM me if interested and the setup you would be interested in.
i looked into all of this and even bought a c63 caliper. if you have the stock 18" wheels, the c63 rear does not clear. it even wont clear the front wheels that have same size rotor.
the slc43/cla45 rear caliper has a much different offset, and no wear sensor mounting.
my plan is to machine a cover. affix with jb weld, and then paint front and rears red. this isnt a true track car. if it was for me, id get 19" wheels and put the c63s red calipers on and call it a day. but you will need to space out the c63 calipers by 4mm it looks like. everything else was bolt on and plug and play.
How much did the c63 rear calipers cost you? Would it fit a 19" wheel?
i only bought one from a scrap yard for $300 for test fitting. yes they fit 19" wheels.
So a lot of people have chimed in on this, but I don't see anything definitive. Has anyone figured out a way for the back breaks to be upgraded (in looks, not necessarily performance) to have a legitimate caliper cover, at a cost that is commensurate with a purely cosmetic upgrade (other than buying cheap plastic caliper covers and gluing them on)?
One of those plate covers to fit our C43 calipers like what’s on the C63 would be nice. Just to beaten up the look. I see them online for A-class and non-AMG W205, but not for C43. I’m sure someone has a source for them?
ive bounced back and forth a lot on this. after my last track day, ive decided to upgrade to c63 base brakes not only for aesthetic reasons, but for performance as well. will keep this group informed. we will see if the rear is bolt up without mods. my goal is to be able to keep the option to run 18" wheels for winter

How much did it cost you to replace these? I'm assuming you did the front and rear?
its not completed yet but estimated cost around $2000 all in
considering i was about to spend $700 to replace oem brakes. it doesnt look too bad after that.
Was that 700$ to replace the brake pads? Did the Mercedes dealership offer to put that on for you or did you have to find a third party to order and install?

i do all my work myself. thats parts cost alone for 4 corners of pads and rotors and everything.
Quick off topic Q for Star4life ... are those OEM 507 rims fitted to your C43? IF yes, I take it no issues? Thanks
Back on topic ... not really looking to replace rear calipers but agree that the standard C43 aren’t pretty and that painting isn’t really going to help ... so did anyone find/produce the AMG cover panel, at sensible $$, as seen in the above posts as part of the C63 set up please?

yes they are oem 507 with 12mm spacers on each corner. they are for sale as of today! PM if interested.
i have not seen a cover for stock rear brakes. in addition, if one was made, how would it reliably attach? it would need to be welded or jb welded and that just seems janky to me. possible but janky. c63 brakes on their way to me now
a little fun fact, the c63 and c63s has the same brake calipers front and back. Only difference is color. rear is exact same except color. front has larger rotor, different pads and caliper is spaced out farther to accomodate the larger rotor.
i am ordering brackets to mount oem c63 calipers both front and rear. you can either mount the 360mm front rotors or 390mm front rotors and the 360mm rear rotors. this takes care of performance and visual looks. can run oem rotors or use the racing brake option.
does anyone else want the brackets. i will save you some money in the group buy i have set up. front brackets are $350. Rear Brackets are $120. Pm me if interested.
I wanted to update the thread. I have the options for c63 brake upgrade for the c300/400/450/43.
I can post pics later of the c63 brakes mounted. Some issues with getting the c63 rotors to fit. our hubs are different than the 63 to accept our different rotors. I thought the geometry would work out but no dice.
There are 2 cheaper best paths forward. In both cases, the c63 calipers are bolt up using oem hardware.
1. I can buy 2 piece Brembo OE rotors for both front and rear. 390mmx36mm or 360mmx36mm for the front and 360x26mm for the rear. The 360mm setup fits under OEM 18" c43 front wheels the way i am designing it. All setups will clear any 19" wheel. They will all use oem c63 calipers in red or gray which will bolt on. I will be machining custom rotor hats and front brackets for the c43/450/400 and C300. They will bolt into the Brembo OE rotor friction surfaces using existing hardware. They will bolt onto your car. No other mods needed. estimated cost would be about $300 for these custom hats for front and rear. then you would need to buy the rotors which are about $350 per rotor new. or you can pay slightly more on FCP euro and get replacements for lifetime for the cost of shipping. so essentially lifetime brakes for about $1900. This is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the racing brake option with not much ongoing cost. and you get oe quality Brembo brakes.
2. We get a group buy of a few people to go to racing brake and they will make a custom rotor for the rear. The only issue i see is that the c63 rotor will not bolt up to the front without the mods i stated. Thus this option probably will only be a rear upgrade plus c43/450 front stock caliper. Cost for this if it follows thier online prices for the c63 will most likely run about $22-2400 usd for 4 rotors. They claim to have a better design than OEM and are lighter at the sacrifice of rotor wall thickness.
If anyone is interested in either option please let me know. I wanted to try to get a few people together to reduce start up cost.
From what I’ve seen of Brembo two piece rotors, is that the braking surface height isn’t very tall like an MB front pad is. It’s pretty narrow for their two piece setup. I’m not entirely sure that their rotor has enough space for the original MB pad. Have you checked the dimensions throughly?

brembo 2 piece rotors are used on the c63 and c63s amg. to use them you must also have their calipers. our oem c43 or c300 calipers wont work. just making that clear. to perform this rear and/ optional front upgrade, you must use the c63 calipers.

Yup, ok, that’s what I meant. I had concerns about the C43 front Caliper on a Brembo two piece rotor. Not possible.
My c63s brake upgrade is coming together for my 17 c43 brembo "OEM" 2 piece rotors and oem calipers. I will be using porterfield racing r4s pads . Still working out some clearance issues on the rear but i pretty much have everything figured now! Best part is it will clear some 18" wheels if you prefer. But i ended up upsizing winter tires and will run 19" wheels. If anyone is interested in getting this setup let me know. Not super cheap but performance is there. and as far as oem brembo upgrades go it is relatively cheap.

Thanks for the updates. Will you also be changing the proportioning valves with the new 63 calipers?
