Angry Resetting Trip Distance???

Ok, this is driving me F-ing nuts. How do you reset the trip distance??

In the manual on page 220 it shows how, but I don't have or have no idea how to get to those screens. In the AMG supplement it makes no mention of the trip distance at all.

I would think that the odometer and trip distance would always be displayed. But maybe that's just me.

On the left side of the steering wheel use the touch pad and scroll up or down till the item you want to reset is in the screen and then lightly press, then scroll to Yes for reset and the press, that's it.

I tried that, but all it does is move between the five or six screen selections and none of them are anything relating to trip distance. In fact, the ONLY way I can ever see the odometer or trip distance is when I first get in the car and it only stays there for a few seconds.

Use the same touchpad to scroll right or left until you get to the selection that has the odometer, trip and "from start", then press and then scroll up or down as per prior reply

After much trying I finally figured it out. I had to hit the home button and then scroll through those items to get to trip then scroll through those options to reset the trip odometer. Wow, how convoluted.

After using the Audi MMI for so many years I have to say I'm not a fan so far of how MB has set up their menus. Even the iDrive in my wife's BMW is easier.

Glad you got it going, yes there is a learning curve between vehicles, hopefully once you get into it you'll be comfortable. I'd suggest spending some time just working through the digital dash when you have time.

Many people remember the times when resetting the mileage was done by simply pressing a button on the dashboard. Every time in front of the gas station, you had to calculate the average fuel consumption - that's what the onboard computers of those years looked like. Now everything is much easier - many sensors measure many parameters and give all the necessary information in real-time. For example, we recently went on a trip thanks to the Karpiak Caravan. The particular place is called Big Johnson Lake. Johnson Lake near Barriere is one of the prettiest lakes in BC, and it is no wonder why it is so popular among locals. And all the distance we travelled was fixed, with no drop-off.

It is just me probably but I hate it when my dealership resets my trip during service, as I use it to see how long the vehicle is driven in total down to minutes, I get it, it resets every 10,000 KMs but still.

If everything is now much easier, you wouldn't have threads like this. (and there are many) MPG is now calculated by the car, but is seldom accurate. (I've checked that in my last 50 cars). Tire PSI is shown and is usually close, but not as good as a calibrated gauge. My AMG GTS required 5 menu steps to eject a CD since it lacked the universally marked eject button. Many cars, due to user complaints, have added analog buttons back because they are easier to adjust than going through multiple steps for simple functions. People often think the high tech is "cool", but it's often not easier. Multiple touch screen steps isn't easier than rotating a knob to adjust a fan, for instance.
