Interesting how they both liked the Audi interior the most. The Audi interiors are very well finished, with quality materials, but they are nothing overly special. Very plain and not particularly elegant, kind of simple and utilitarian...but so is a Ford Focus'. I still think the W205 interior is the class leader in terms of appearance, but I guess I'm a little biased. And I'm so very disappointed with the new 3 series' interior. The hard edges, the shapes, the angles...it's like they are trying to copy Lexus, inside and out (that rear end). I don't know what happened to the thought process of the designers after the e9x run. Even the new X5 is godawful ugly.

I feel the opposite actually, coming from an S5 the Merc interior is a bit lacking but I just love the performance of the C43 so I thought I’d give Merc a try and hope I can live with the interior.

I think the Merc interior looks better but VAG cars have way better interior quality control than Mercs. My c43 had interior rattles and creaks since day 1 which has only gotten worse over time.

Did you buy the car new? I’ve put 25,000 miles on mine (bought it new) and not a single creak/rattle thus far.

My car was made in Alabama, apparently the ones assembled in Germany have no interior issues. I got mine new.

Ouch. I had no idea MB had an assembly plant in Alabama. Do you know if the 63 coupes are assembled there too?

All coupes and cabs are assembled in the Bremen, Germany plant. Sedans for North America are assembled in Alabama and South Africa for other markets. A few sedans continue to be built in the plant in Bremen.

My coupe and 4 other coupes I have been in (mind you they all have stock tires) rattle a ton (mostly coming from passenger dash & door area in all cars). I am not sure why but this was def. not the quality I expected from Benz and will def try to switch it up for my next car option.

Completely agree! I always considered Audi’s interiors to be the benchmark in the industry. But after sitting in the S5, I don’t get what everyone is creaming their pants over. I know I’m in the minority, but it seemed very plastic to me...and what’s with the long plastic vent that runs across the entire dash? I was so disappointed with the interior I didn’t even test drive it.

I’m also biased but the Mercedes specked with carbon and cranberry leather is gorgeous imo. No creaks either at least in my car.

The BMWs have good quality interiors but I just wasn’t feeling the design.

I agree. I'm not particularly impressed with the recent Audi interiors especially in the 4/5 series or what's commonly refereed to as the B9. I find the placement of the switches and the center console ergonomically challenging. The switches to change the drive modes for example require leaning forward. I also don't find it special and I thought I was the only one who finds the vent going the entire width to be very cheap looking. I've been an Audi guy for the last 12 years and still have a 2013 RS5, but the interior of my new C63S Coupe is IMO a notch above Audi. The dash is leather wrapped, albeit faux, but still looks much better than the soft touch plastic Audi uses. The one thing that Audi still has going for them is the quality of the switch gear. They just feel a lot more solid than MB's switches. The new AMG steering wheel while it looks great has a disappointing plastic feel. What looks like aluminium in the center is actually just painted plastic that occasionally creaks. The AMG Drive Unit on the C63S while I love it, feels a bit cheap, especially the soft touch buttons on the left. The stuff creaks every time I press it. The rotary drive mode selector feels a bit more solid, actually it feels pretty satisfying when changing modes, but the steering wheel buttons in the Audis feel more solid.

Love the 2013 version of the RS5 (my neighbor has one) . When the first S5 came out In 2007 I thought it was one the best looking cars on the road at the time. Now with this new iteration I feel Audi has sadly lost their way with the S5. I really wanted to like the 2019 version, but just wasn’t working me on several levels.

Congrats on your new c63s, but sorry to hear some of the switches are creaking. Very frustrating I’m sure on a new car. I’ve only had my c43 for about a week, but I haven’t noticed any creaking yet...hoping it stays that way lol!

It's actually a state-of-the-art factory that recently got a $1.3 billion dollar investment. The Alabama plant produces the GLE, GLS, and all C-Class sedans for the North American market.

Squeaks and rattles in the interior (my German-built C63 developed a seat hardware squeak, whereas my C43 has no squeaks), from what I have seen, are just as prevalent on German coupes as they are American-built sedans. Which suggests either design or materials issues, rather than assembly issues.
