Edit: Also want to point out that this hasn't been confirmed with non-PE cars as far as I'm aware. I'm non-PE, so I'll test over lunch today and report back.
You done with your lunch? I have the non-PE and curious if speakers pump engine sound into cabin.

Well, after driving one equipped with it, I played with the windows, bringing them up and down. It would be difficult for an audio system in a car to, other than super high end stuff, to fake the inflection in sound when the cabin seal is broken.

I’m non-PE too and 2019 Estate model, I tried to locate that fuse and found that I don’t have that fuse, so I couldn’t try.

Also hope that fuse is not the one that powers the baffles to open or close cause that will definitely have an impact on sound by not opening or closing.

The flaps are run by a separate controller and is separate from that fuse.

However, I’m not entirely sure yet if the 2019 have that fuse.

The fuse box in the trunk is different on my 2019 C43 with PE.

As you can see in the images, there are 3 fuses "assigned" to the Sound System (471, 473, 483) with only one installed in my car the 40A 473.

Finally back from lunch

I wanted to drive around for a day to make sure I was actually hearing what I was hearing and it was not just in my head. I made several 8 stops over the last 24hrs, each time pulling or replacing the fuse for the next leg of the trip so I had some immediate comparisons on the same or similar road conditions. All driving was done in S+, manual mode, and suspension in comfort (how I typically drive). I have a fairly high level of confidence there is some sort of audio intervention happening. Immediate reactions upon pulling the fuse at lunch yesterday was an increase in overall road/wind noise, significantly more prominent initial turbo spool/whistle noise, and a noticeably quieter low/mid-RPM roll out. The bottom half of the RPM range is significantly quieter on casual acceleration. Low RPM-full throttle/boost, and top half of the band are seemingly unchanged.

I looked back on the feedback in the WhatsApp chat from the people with PE that did this same exercise and they had similar experiences, only a bit more heightened since the PE is physically different as well.

TL;DR - Back to back comparison, fuse in = more engine hum/drone in cabin at lower RPMs; fuse out = elevated but calm road noise, quieter under driving Mrs Daisy conditions staying in bottom half of RPMs, whistlier/twirlier turbo intake noises, no change in WOT conditions.

Is yours a 2019 model, or pre-FL? Cos there are two of us here so far with 2019 models without that fuse and the fuse box is diffferent.

So it seems the 2019 model doesn’t have that fuse for both PE and non-PE equipped versions. Perhaps the FL model doesn’t have piped in sound after all. This all good and new info, I’d say. It’s a good thing this thread was started and the OP asked a good question, otherwise we’d have never known.

Does the FL coupe/cab have it?

According to one of the posts above, 2019 Coupe with PE does not have the fuse.

I have a 2019 sedan and no fuse either.

I'm pretty confident there is no sound coming from my speakers.

I think we've pretty much confirmed now that the 2019 FL model doesn't have the sound generator fuse whether PE or non-PE.

I have very acute hearing and was certain this was the case. Thanks to all for checking.

Maybe already answered but does anyone know why car sounds louder in S and S+ especially S+ (coupe, non PE)? I am almost certain speakers are playing a role.

Do you have a 2019 or a pre-FL C43?

I’ll still say, with a degree of caution, it could be the synthetic noise is amped up a bit in S/S+, but it’s also important to realize that idle varies depending on mode as well. The additional +/- 200rpms in S+ will inherently make more noise than Comfort/slippery/eco.

My 2019 Estate non-PE sounds exactly the same in Comfort, Sport or Sport+. It’s an extremely quiet car in any setting or RPM. Only the shifting program seems to change, RPMs are held higher as you go up to Sport+. That, and maybe some throttle pedal sensitivity.
