Cleaning the Wood Trim
I have the natural grain grey oak trim and have been wondering if it requires anything specific to clean/protect it. Is it even "real" wood that needs conditioning?
I asked the dealer and he seemed offended that I asked if it was real wood and said to use any wood cleaner. I almost asked him to prove that it's real, but didn't really want to pull that string.

You don't say why it needs cleaning but for just normal dust and dirt spilled drink and drive in food, plain water is fine. I've a spray can if MB cleaner that says use to clean the interior parts. I think it is micro thin real wood bonded to plastic.

They are all real wood veneers over a substrate.
Impact standards require that the trim can deform in the event of an accident. This is why the wood trim has a soft(er) metal backing.

Real wood veneer - also the linden wood trim that comes with the saddle brown designo seats. Only difference is that the veneer is covered by a thick laquer.
Anyway, any cleaner made for laquered wood will do. It isn’t actually open pore - it just has a thin matte topcoat to seal the wood.

I just need to do routine cleaning, dust, fingerprints, etc. My car is usually very clean so it's more about keeping things as they currently look.
Thanks for the answers.

The BMW cockpit cleaner (sacrilege, I know...) can be used on sealed and open-pore wood.
