Is there any way to start up in Individual mode?

Is there any way to have the car start up in my Individual mode and not comfort mode?

I really hate having to switch it every time I get in the car.

I have a GLS and to switch the dynamic mode on that is a knob that I can just leave in whatever selection I want.

I don't want a full tune, I just want to be able to mod the startup dynamic mode.

Is there any way?

If it’s a 2019 model, there is no way.

Is this a way for MB to play the mileage game at our expense?

Yes, if you press the ignition twice with your foot off the brake you can hit the selector switch to put it in dynamic mode. Then start your car and enjoy your ear to ear smile

I don't think that's what the OP means.

If OPs question is if they can start up a C43 in dynamic mode instead of comfort, which im pretty sure it is, the answer is yes.

The OP is asking if the car can be set to start in Indivudual Mode at every start instead of default Comfort Mode, without having to touch any buttons at all. I've been through this myself and it is not possible if it is a 2019.

OP never said without touching any buttons. Turning on the ignition without turning on the engine also lets you start-up in individual as well as sport and dynamic.

Yes, this!

Mine is a 2017, does that change anything?

Mid-City Engineering has a solution for this on pre-facelift cars

https://www.midcityengineering.com/product/eco205/

Edit: despite what that link says, individual setting upon start-up is an option. You'll probably need to confirm with them procedure for this prior to ordering, but this is the only solution I'm aware of.

Yes.

2017 possible. 2019 not possible.

Not possible for the car to default in Individual or any other modes other than Comfort in 2019 AFAIK without some form of modding. Even with modding, YMMV. Do share what you find in terms of working vs non-working mods for the 2019.

I just installed the EcoOff module from MidCity Engineering.

The customer service was amazing. I called them and spoke to Mike. He was very helpful and I ordered the unit on Tuesday. It showed up today (Thursday) It was relatively easy to install, though contorting to get to the fusebox is probably easier for a younger and more flexible guy than me.

IT WORKS!!!!!!

It doesn't actually default to individual mode, but as soon as you start the car, it automatically switches into individual mode as if you were doing it yourself. Once the car is running, you can switch it to whatever mode you want.

I LOVE IT!

Mike at MidCity said it will also work with 2019s, but you should call to make sure. I don't know any details about the pre and post facelifts.

With this and the SmartTop controller from Mods4cars, I'm super happy!

It takes the stupid out of the functions of the car.

Glad to hear it works. I’m wondering why it is marketed as “eco off” when that’s not exactly what we have on C43. We don’t have an “eco” button on our car.

The description says ip to 2018 model though.

I’ll be contacting them to ask about 2019.

Yeah, it's weird how they're marketing it.

But I called to ask, and their guy said something like "Yeah, we should put that on the website"

The Eco Off feature is to disable the Start/Stop automatically. You can either do that or have it switch to Individual mode for you. I don't understand why they didn't make it adjustable for you to choose sport or sport+ mode as well. I'd think it's just another line or two of code, but what do I know.

Then he said it would work with 19's too (but he didn't seem 100% sure... but he did say it)

It should work. All it does is simulate the switch being pushed up 3 times. It doesn't really change anything.

I push up once to get from Comfort to Individual mode on my 2019.

I emailed them to ask if they really cover the 2019. I know that using engineer software, the 2018 and earlier models can be set to start in Individual mode, but not the 2019. But if this is really a "button presser", then it may just be the ticket!

On my 2019, when the engine is on Sport Mode, the Auto Start/Stop is disabled anyway, so that's what's set in my Individual Mode. I'd really only need the auto-Individual mode and I'd be happy.

so seems the mid city engineering module is an inline LIN module that sends the signal upon startup. any pics of it? i guess thats easier than pressing a button.

It plugs into the CANBUS under the passenger side carpet, near the door sill and right near the fuse panel in the kick panel... Which is good because you need to power it from 12v and ground it.

Aside from it being a little tight, it's pretty easy. I did use a pigtail fuse in an empty slot.

All told, it took me about 20 minutes start to finish.

On my 2017, I had to push up 3 times to get to individual mode, this does it for you. You even see it working as soon as you start the car. The car starts up in comfort, and then almost immediately switches from Comfort to Sport to Sport+ to Individual.

I experimented and pushed the switch down while it was switching and it basically canceled the change. No harm at all.

I can't believe how something this silly has made me so happy.

Any idea where a layman could get ahold of this "engineer software"? Is it something that specialty Euro mechanics would have, or is it a dealer only thing?

I want to start in Sport+, no chime when the key leaves the car while it's running, and the ability to lock the doors from outside the car while it is running. Coding to allow the sunroof / windows to continue closing operation for like 1 minute after the car is turned off would be nice too. I know I can just hold on the key fob to do this but then I have to lock the car.

Mine is push up once to get to Individual. I wonder if it will work on my 2019. I emailed Mid City, but they just referred me to the installation manual, so not much help there.

It would be a shame if I ordered it and sent half way around the world only to find that it does not work for my 2019.

My concern is the generic nature of the instructions. There is no ECO on/off mode for C43 so I don’t know how this is really differentiated during setup by pushing up instead of pushing down for the Individual mode set up. The other concern is that it seems the number of pushes and direction between the 2017 and 2019 models seems different. Yours is push up 3 times while mine is push up one time.
