Upgraded brake rotors and pads???

Has anyone tried these rotors and pads?

https://brakeperformance.com/brake-r...YaAgHREALw_wcB

Seems way too cheap, but what do I know?

I'm so tired of the squealing and dust from the OEM's that I just might try these.

Are there better options?

I have never heard of them but that is a great price for pads and rotors imo

C450, GLS 63 and a few other things
I've seen the company mentioned around a few of the car forums. Generally good opinions and reviews all around.

I would not consider those brakes a performance upgrade, but as you mentioned, may be an upgrade considering noise and dust.

There aren't many options around for these cars (still) so it would be good if these were a real option. (I don't have any reasons to doubt they fit or anything, just a little surprised and happy if they do).

Thanks,

I'd be perfectly happy if they perform like the stock, I don't care too much about a performance upgrade.

All I want is less noise, dust (mainly really), and maybe lasting longer as semi-metallic or ceramic pads should.

I just don't want them to perform worse!

If OEM is fine, then stick with OEM discs and pads. I wouldn't go aftermarket unless it's providing an upgrade over OEM. Yea OEM may be a little more but it's peace of mind also.

My tow cents to mods: Never cheap out on are tires and brakes. Tires since they are the only things connecting you to the road and brakes which is the only system that'll help stop you from an accident.

C43 front discs are pretty fancy. The ones you listed would be a significant downgrade in weight and performance vs stock. Dust and squealing are mostly the result of the pads used. I was searching for upgrades recently. I didn't have much luck with rotors and discs. Disk Italia is the only one I found that was comparable with OEM but they were priced about the same. Stop tech and EBC could be good options for pads. I'm using EBC yellow on the rear. Reviews complain that they are dusty but they seem to be less dusty than OEM and bite just as hard or harder both cold and hot. I stayed away from EBC red stuff because I read that they don't bite initially when cold. They are supposed to be long lived and low dust but I didn't want to compromise cold weather performance.

+1

Upgrades or OE only for tires and brakes. This is not where you want to try knock offs and no names and you definitely do not want to downgrade here.

I honestly don't care about the price.

I'd be more than happy with an upgrade, or staying the same performance wise, I just want less dust and squealing.

I'll take a look at Stop Tech and EBC.

yes porterfields are awesome. their compound dusts less. and when it does dust its a lighter gray dust. best with dark silver and gray wheels but cant complain either way. performance is improved as well. thanks to their carbon kevlar compound.

As I'm due for pads again very soon, I did some quick shopping. It seems that R1 Concepts (who is a sponsor of some other car forums I'm on) has pads for the C450/43 as well now in Semi-Metallic, Ceramic, and the OEM Performance replacement lines. Some very good prices on those as well:

https://www.r1concepts.com/detail_ca...Front_and_Rear

As a disclaimer, I've never used these myself, I've just seen them around the virtual world, similar to the Brake Performance guys in the initial post.

I'm probably sticking with OEM, but its good that we are finally getting some options, including low dust ceramics for those that want those.

Finally, it looks like the OEM fronts have gone up in price around $25 per set since the last time I ordered them (no changes to the rears)

searching for a c43 sedan
Are the c43 rotors really two piece? Built one in the MB site and couldnt find any info. Im curous about these cars and may want to get one for a daily driver. The first mods I want to do are lighter brake and wheel setup. If they're solid rotors, im getting those and then lighter wheels.

they are actually 2 piece technically. the rotor hat is geared into the friction surface. I didnt notice this myself until FCP euro had mentioned it and when i took my rotor off, i inspected and it is true. This is how they are able to get away with such a thin rotor hat. they really are not that light for the design though. Not sure why they went this direction. its probably to increase rotor longevity for heating and cooling cycles.

If you look carefully, you'll notice the brakes and pads are Brembos (at least they are on the C400)...

Must be different on the 400 because the pads on the 450/43 are not Brembos

I have a C400 and nothing on them indicates to me that they were made by brembo.
It does seem MB made a switch on the rear pads between C400 and C450/C43 because mine are lasting a lot longer than any of the C43 cars, but i have a pretty bad pulse from the rear when they get hot. Seems the compound doenst take heat very well and leaves high spots. Cleans off ok but comes back next time i beat on them. Rotors still have plenty of meat and are not warped.
Im not the only one who has experienced this either with a C400. There is also a 10mm difference in rotor size from 2015 to 2016 models.

Shame that Alcon don't do aftermarket brake sets for C43....I have asked them directly but unfortunately not. Have raced Alcon's with Pagid Race pads, which, inb terms of brake modulation have had the edge on some carbon ceramic set up's I have had.

LOL, I feel dumb. I totally didn't notice. I thought just my front rotors were fancy. I guess my car is twice as fancy as I thought it was

Yea I'm curious if there are any lighter rotors for these cars. What are you guys going with for lighter aftermarket wheels?

I'm always leery of things like this at such good prices. Most likely Chinese sourced steel and made product. It does however include a lifetime warranty/unlimited mileage on the rotors
