Question about tires

So a quick update for everyone: I got the PS4S installed today and it transformed the way the car feels. I thought people were exaggerating when they described how significant this upgrade from the stock Pirellis was. The car drives so smoothly, barely feeling any of the small holes/cracks I have on my way home. I put the Pirellis aside and will keep them for when my lease ends.
Another important fact that I wanted to share with everyone (maybe you all know it already...): I spoke to my dealership and they confirmed that I can change the stock tires to anything I want and the warranty package I am paying for separately (tires and rims) will remain intact. Even if I drive to the dealership with a punctured PS4S, they will replace it under this warranty package! Quite fantastic I think, considering this was my biggest concern about this move.
Anyway, super happy with the new tires. Will update in a few hundred miles again :-)

I ran a hankook evo HPS in 275 and still had no issue breaking it loose. And then/now I am running a continental extreme contact sport which is a bit more grip despite being a 265 and it can also break loose with steering angle and WOT.
The conti's are great tires for about 20% less than the michelins

$160 total for all four. Sold to a Jaguar owner looking for lease return tires. He measured tread depth across tread to make sure they would be acceptable to the lessor and found that there was close to zero required tread depth remaining. That was at 2800 miles and normal driving. My point here is that there's not much margin allowed on "lease return" tires, at least in his case. As to whether $160 was a fair price, who knows?

I'm still below the cost of the tire warranty, barely.
Taking the RFT off to end of lease is a wise decision. I own mine, too many miles, but the whole car changes...lots of rattles and vibrations just go away. Potholes and expansion joints get smaller. You can feel the suspension differences quite a bit more.
Why M-B handicaps these cars with these stupid-*** tires is beyond me. Do they save that much money on spares and jacks ?

I've wondered this as well. Like you, I also swapped out the run-flats (with Conti's) per the recommendation of others on this forum. I was caught off guard by the results. It didn't just help, it drastically changed the ride.

If it's a lease it's worth taking them off until you trade in. The rf are about 1.5 times as expensive as top shelf conventional tires and they wear much more quickly.

I think is a North America thing. There are C43 that are delivered nonRF from factory, at least mine is. Mine has an option code specifically for nonRF.

when i got my C43 I realized they are dramatic! Changed to PS4S and it soo sooo much better, no tyre skipping, much less noise, more grip and it feels like my car transformed from a C Class to an S Class.
After all i had to do this also with my previous cars

You're in Deutschland right? You guys get to opt out of rf tires if you wish. Getting conventional tires was not an option on either of my US spec builds (2016 c450, 2017 glc43). It would be nice if MB would follow BMW's lead and offer a broader selection of tires.
It would also be cool if I could get a c43 wagon with ABC in the US, but that's never gonna happen

I replaced the run flats with General Altimax rt43's. Was set on pilot sport as3+ but couldn't refuse the price on the Generals. I know they aren't a high performance tire but they ride comfortably, quiet, handle rain amazingly and let me avoid swapping out for snow tires. Although not as good as a dedicated snow tire they handle snow better than any other all season I've had aside from my Continental exteme contact dws06's. Great value! For what they are I find they handle predictably and well enough for my needs.

My lease is going back and I need to get rid of my Michelin Pilot Sport a/s 3+ (19") and replace withem with factory run flats.
Anyone interested in a trade?
Run flats must be more than 4/32 tread left. Mine are currently 6/32 tread left.

Mine are like new, sitting in the garage. I think shipping coast to coast might be prohibitive though.
