Maybe the nfuture C43 will be the equivalent of the A35 AMG...and the current equivalent of the current C43 will be the future C53.

Can you imagine? A four banger in the top tier C AMG. Ugh.

The head liner is a pricey part to replace, ask a guy who did it. Comes in a huge box, one piece, then you get the bill...

I mean that's fine. Electric is a completely different drive train, but please don't just downgrade the number of cylinders for a C63!

For those who missed it. This was recently leaked. The C43 is not on there yet, but it's most likely also gonna be called C43e and will probably have a detuned M139 R4 engine with 48V mild hybrid, and the C63e as shown here will have full 400V hybrid and the new AMG E-Turbo. Word on the street is also that the C and E coupes are gonna be discontinued and replaced by a new CLE slotting in between the C and E Class. Supposedly will come in coupe, vert, shooting brake and possibly 4-door coupe.

Two 4cyls make up the c63 v8

Guys I hope you know that the gla45 4cyl engine when you take two of them and put them in a v configuration it makes the c63s v8 from what I see I have zero issues if they can make a 4 banger as efficient and as fast as the v8 from the c63s I would be extremely excited to see this

Imagine negotiating a purchase for a 70k+ car that has a 4 cylinder... embarrassing. I wouldn't even be able to look the sales guy in the face.

IMO it's not the # cylinders, it's the end result that matters.

To be fair, the Koenigsegg Gemera, depicted below, will cost north of $1 dollars and has a 2.0l 3 cylinder engine. However, this engine is a technological marvel, making over 600 PS, 200 more than the AMG I4 with the same displacement, clever biturbo setup never done before by feeding an uneven number of cylinders with two turbos, and Koenigsegg's subsidiary's Free Valve technology which gets rid of the crankshaft and enters a whole new dimension in controlling the combustion cycle. The battery uses cells from Formula 1 and the thing has a total system power output of 1700 PS. BTW, the combustion engine only drives the front wheels. The rear wheels are purely electric. I haven't heard this car run yet, but Christian von Koenigsegg claims that it sounds phenomenal, partly because of the relatively high per cylinder displacement. The problem is, making a performance hybrid system exciting has so far only happened in million dollar hypercars such as the McLaren P1, Porsche 918, both using V8s, though and now the Gemera which is the first of its kind with such a tiny engine. Past Hybrid Koenigseggs still used V8 engines and the upcoming AMG One uses a detuned version of the current 6 cylinder F1 engine with a hybrid setup, revving to something like 10,000 rpm. Again, very exciting, but this stuff costs a ton of money to get it at this level. The M139 is a great engine, but it's not the most exciting engine. It's kinda dull in the A/GLA 45 to be honest, now partly that's because of the noise regulations which will make future AMGs quieter and less exciting even if they still get the V8. Brands like Koenigsegg don't have to adhere to the same strict regulations, because they are a niche low volume manufacturer. So, objectively performance hybrid powertrains can in theory be very exciting, but cost and regulations will not allow for that in more mainstream products.

More embarrassing than getting smoked by that 70k+ 4 cylinder in your 70k+ 6 cylinder? I'd love to look a sales guy in the face and negotiate for a cla45s here in the US...
